The Concise Oxford Dictionary of English Etymology (Oxford Quick Reference) (1993-07-29) Paperback – 1682

The dictionary itself is fine as far as telling you which words to use and giving examples of phrases. The thing that makes it almost useless to me is the horribly teeny tiny Arabic font. I honestly need a magnifying glass to read it. There are so many places where the font is so small that letters come out as big black blobs of ink instead of distinct, clear letters. Not what one would expect from "The world's most trusted dictionary."If this book is listed as a requirement for a class, I would suggest waiting until the class starts to ask the professor if there is an alternative. No doubt, they've heard complaints from previous students about this book and will have suggestions for better dictionaries.

Arabic is an intense language to learn in the first place ...at first I told my Muslim Friend in Egypt it ALL LOOKS LIKE SCRIBBLES TO ME!haahah that did not go over very well! haahahaBottom line .. ALL THE FONT IS SO SO SMALL TO TINY .....mix that w New to Arabic world n ALL look all so similiar to me ..I donated for fundraiser .....

Great dictionary. The print is too small to read.

This dictionary was very hard to use. The print is too small to make out what the letters are, so one can't be sure of the pronunciation. In other dictionaries of other languages that I have the dictionary is transliterated in case you are not exactly sure of the pronunciation. I would not recommend it to anyone it is a waste of money.

This is the best small sized English-Arabic dictionary I have found. Occasionally I have to check words against my Hans Wehr to make sure of the meaning I'm attempting to convey. Overall though this is an excellent dictionary for a student or anyone in need of a portable version

great if you already know Arabic alphabet and style

This is most likely the best English to Arabic dictionary on the market for native ENGLISH speakers. Most E-A dictionaries are made for native Arabic speakers, and assume you know what the Arabic that your reading is. This is more English-speaker friendly. Only downside of the book is that it is only in hardback, which makes it difficult to pull out of your pocket and flip through quickly. Highly recommend over most E-A dictionaries, unless you are a native ARABIC speaker.

This book is an amazing reference when you just can't remember the root (in order- hah!) that you are looking for!
