Smooth and Vibrant Colored Pencils – Great for Kids and Adults
I purchased the Amazon Basics 24-pack colored pencils, and they are excellent. The colors are vibrant and smooth, making coloring enjoyable and easy. The pencils have a good quality wood casing, and the cores don’t break easily while sharpening. They work well for kids’ art projects, school assignments, or just casual coloring. The set is affordable but doesn’t compromise on quality. They also blend nicely if you want to create shading or layered effects. Overall, this is a great basic set of colored pencils. I’m very satisfied and would definitely recommend them for both children and adults.

Great value — vibrant colors and soft application! ✨
I was pleasantly surprised by how well these Amazon Basics colored pencils performed. As someone who enjoys adult coloring books and casual sketching, I’ve tried a wide range of colored pencils, from student-grade to professional sets — and this one holds its own in the budget category. What I loved: ✔️ Smooth, soft core that lays down color evenly without needing too much pressure ✔️ Vibrant, rich pigmentation – colors pop nicely, even on slightly textured paper ✔️ No issues with sharpening – the cores didn’t crumble or break ✔️ Great for both kids and adults – my niece enjoyed them just as much as I did ✔️ The tin packaging is sturdy and helps keep the pencils organized Minor Notes: • While the color range is solid for a 24-pack, an expanded set with more unique shades would be awesome. • These aren’t oil-based or pro-level, but for school, hobby, or casual art – they’re perfect. Overall, this is a reliable, well-priced set that exceeded my expectations. Whether you’re heading back to school, picking up a hobby, or just looking for a gift, these are a solid choice. I’ll definitely be looking into the larger sets from Amazon Basics in the future. ✅ Would purchase again and recommend to others

Wow. Just Wow!
In case you don't like reading wordy reviews, here's the short version: I LOVE them. Currently, the largest set you can buy is 72 and that does the job just fine, but I'm a lazy colorist and a color addict, so I would be the first one in line to buy an even bigger set it they ever made one. I would highly recommend these as a very first colored pencil for someone who has never used colored pencils, or as an experienced Colorist, to supplement what you already have. Want more detail about why? Then read on. If not, stop here. I got into adult coloring at the start of 2023 and in that time, I've tried countless brands of pencils and learned a lot from trial and error. One of the most important things I've learned is that when it comes to colored pencils, it's important to match the pencil to the paper. The same brand/set of pencils may work GREAT in one coloring book or on one type of paper, but will be a total disappointment on another. The wrong combination will suck all the fun out of coloring, and then what's the point? Beyond that, basically, there are two different types of pencils: mostly wax based and mostly oil based. Mostly wax pencils are softer and put down lot of color very quickly - even with light pressure - but used with too much pressure and/or on the wrong paper, the color can start to get clumpy and uneven really fast. They also wear down fast, so you have to sharpen them more often. Mostly oil based pencils are much firmer. Good ones will also give you rich, intense color, however, unless you're really heavy handed, you'll have to spend more time on each area to get there. The benefit of oil based pencils is that they hold their point for much longer and can create thin, crisp lines. That means, if you're working on a lot of tiny details or small spaces, you will get much better color control and you won't have to sharpen nearly as often. Depending on what you're coloring, it helps to have one set of each type. Or . . . you can buy the Amazon Basics as they do both of those jobs really well. Whether I'm working on small-ish repeated patterns or large areas, I'm able to get smooth, even, alcohol marker like coverage with very little effort, yet they still hold their point for doing detail work. If you're only using pencils, they blend beautifully one color over another to create new colors. If you're feeling experimental (or want to speed up the coloring process), they add "pop" and dimension to your work when you use them on top of water or alcohol based markers of any quality or brand. Bonus: they work well on most types of paper and have some colors that are not commonly found in mid-grade colored pencil sets (like very pale baby blue). The tips don't break easily (unless you drop them on a hard surface and shatter the core) and they sharpen beautifully with a hand crank pencil sharpener. Great set of pencils.

Rich colors, smooth color, great quality
Nice quality colored pencils. Color is well pigmented. Releases smoothly on the paper. Can smudge to blend if you apply pressure which is cool. But if you pass your fingers over your coloring quickly it won’t smudge by accident. Nice for any aspiring artist that wants something with more quality than the pencils that start with the letter C and end in with an A. Worth it for the price point. I recommend.

Absolutely Amazing!!! Will buy again!!!
You're in for a treat with the Amazon Basics Premium Color Pencils 48-pack! Swatching this set is an absolute joy, and you'll find coloring with them to be incredibly smooth. They boast fantastic pigmentation and blend together exceptionally well, making your artwork pop. While Prismacolor often sets the bar, if you're seeking a wonderfully affordable alternative, look no further—you've found it right here. These pencils are truly amazing!

I was so impressed by the huge number of great reviews so I bought the 72 ct set. Reviews say soft core, smooth lay down, super soft, lay down like butter ... I found nothing like that at all. They do present well with a metal case. But I have found them to be hard and some pencils are scratchy. One pencil wasn't new. And another has paintwork peeling. Whilst these are cheap, may be Crayola 100 pencils are better value.

Son lápices de colores de buena calidad. Tienen tonos bonitos, además de que pintan excelente. Mi hija está encantada con ellos. Además, el precio es relativamente accesible.

The colours are very vibrant! I wasn’t sure about buying anything other than crayola, but the reviews were good so I gave them a try and they’re great pencil crayons. I’ll buy the bigger set next time.

I purchased the Amazon Basics coloured pencil as a gift for my fiance. He wanted to try out a couple of themed adult colouring books and these have been great! You usually expect to pay a much higher price for a set this large, so we're very happy. They have rich pigmentation, an incredible range of shades, smooth blending and the tin case is an excellent touch and has made for easy storage!
