It is silent which is important for anyone who is bothered by a ticking clock. The biggest negative for me is that the labels on the controls are very hard to read and are small. That's why I gave "easy to use" 4 stars instead of 5. It is large so I wouldn't consider this a travel clock. It's lightweight though so I gave it 3 stars for that category. Yes, it is a great clock for seniors with the big numbers and increasing loud alarm. However, I dropped a star because the labels on the back for the alarm, time and on/off are raised plastic lettering, the same color as the clock, black. I myself had trouble seeing what was what so I used my handy labelmaker and make labels (black on white) for the various things.
