We hike every morning, and when it is cold my nose runs sometimes. I had been using tissues and keeping them in a pocket on a black mesh water bottle holder till I could get back home and dispose of them. I didn't like that I could see this big white thing stuck in the black mesh, so I was searching for black handkerchiefs. I bought these because they are 100% cotton and not something made of polyester. They are not made with a fine cotton thread, they are fairly loosely woven, but that isn't a problem. They are thin and a bit see through... also not a problem. On the first wash one of the hems had a complete blowout. Only one out of the six did this, but I have no doubt that the others won't be far behind. This really isn't much of a problem for me since I am only using them to wipe my nose, if they don't completely unravel it is fine. However if you were wanting to use them as a pocket square or something that is going to be seen, you might not want these.
