Video AV Adapter for Sony Playstation 2 PS2 to HDMI Converter w/ 3.5mm Audio Output, for HDTV HDMI Monitor by Farenow

I used this converter to connect a Playstation 2 to an HDTV with just HDMI ports. It was easy to setup and the picture was decent considering the PS2 isn't HD. However I discovered that one of the Guitar Hero games supports progressive scan output. When I selected that option, I was really surprised at how good it looked. Have been using this device for 3 months now without problems.

The only issue is that the usb power cord from the hdmi unit and the power cord from the game console are slightly in the way of each other, but they are flexible and low voltage. sound is great, picture is awesome. Never thought ps2 could look this good and my ps2 is well over 10 years old. great product [since some newer tv's don't have RCA jacks]

I previously tried an RCA to HDMI converter/upscaler (one of the square box units with a switch btwn 720p and 1080p) and it didn’t work. I gave this a chance and it did the trick. I can hook up my PS2 to modern flatscreens and the picture is great. Currently playing on. 65in Samsung that is about 3-4 yrs old. I don’t recall if I had to adjust any system settings on the PS2 itself but the info was online - I think I found some Reddit threads about this. Sorry, it’s a new review for a product I purchased a while ago and once I got the settings right to get it to work, I forgot all about them since I started playing retro games again.

This works really well, and gives really good picture quality. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the adapter has a cord that comes with it that needs to be plugged in to an outlet for the adapter to have enough power to work. That in itself isn't too bad, but the cord they provide you with is super short, which made it very hard to find anywhere I could put my console so that I was still close enough to an outlet. I ended up having to order a longer cord for the adapter so that I had more flexibility. Once I did that, I had no more complaints or issues with it.

The adapter really helped to clear up text and overall image in the PS2 games. I would recommend purchasing. Note though ... make sure you read notes in the product description on Amazon's page for this item. "The PS2 must be set up for Component Video Output (YPBPR) as opposed to RGB output before use"

Easy install. Hook adapter up to PS2. Connect usb cord to either front of console or tv to power the adapter. Make sure PS2 is on correct video settings. Worked on my 4K Samsung KS8000 as well as my 1080p insignia.

With 4K becoming the new standard for televisions you're starting to see more and more TV's without component/analog AV jacks. This device allowed me to hookup my PS2 to my new TV easily. Not only was it simple, it also improves the picture quality enough to be noticeable. I would buy this adapter even if I had jacks on the TV just for the bump in image quality.
