Don't buy: Bottom wears through in months.
I loved these shoes initially. The uppers are quality. Unfortunately the bottom tread is made of poor quality material and is actually hollow, leading to holes if you do much walking. The holes also cause the shoes to squeak for days after walking on wet ground. See attached pics.I sent the pics to Timberland in an email along with my Amazon purchase information, but Support would not send a replacement pair without making me jump through hoops to return the ones I bought. (Even though Timberland is aware of this design/material flaw, had photos, and had the Amazon purchase info [screenshots of the entire purchase].)By producing a shoe they had to know would fail within a year and not making adequate effort to address customer problems with it, Timberland has lost my family's business for years to come, and I'll recommend others avoid their products. In contrast, I have other brands that have lasted me 20 years, e.g., a pair of Clarks from the 90's that I still wear. These Timberlands lasted less than a year with only intermittent use.

Most Comfortable Shoes Ever?
I ordered these along with two other fisherman sandal choices, these the most expensive were by far the best choice.By virtue of the design, the large toe box with stitched openings and a wide stance design, comfort seemed assured. But Timberland has also provided a remarkably generous leather cushioned insole that feels almost like the interior of a bedroom slipper. Indeed I sometimes slip these on in lieu of a slipper. The outtersole is of athletic shoe design and provides abundant cushioning. A feature that adds to the shoes cushiony feel is the inclusion of three rounded soft rubber tubes running almost the length of the sole which does much I think to make each foot placement virtually shock free.I wore these for three weeks in the South of France and Northern Italy doing much walking and never once looked forward to taking them off at the end of the day. Most comfortable shoes I ever owned? At 71 I can't remember all of them, but let's just say they are the most comfortable shoes in recent memory!

Soles are so slippery as to be borderline lethal on a smooth and moist floor
PLUS. These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned, such that I want to wear them all the time. MINUS. On a smooth and moist or damp floor, they are nothing short of LETHAL. They are so slippery that you had better be a performer at Cirque du Soleil or you are going to break your neck the first time you venture out onto an even s-l-i-g-h-t-l-y slippery surface. It is not the black rubber sole that is slippery, but the three long bars (of a light brown color) that run two-thirds of the length of the sole and that are made of a different silicon-like material. After all these years, Timberland does not seem to be aware of this problem, amazingly enough!

Quality and Elegant Sandal
I'm always wearing Rockport 10.5 2E Oxford. I had choose Timberland sandal at size of 10 2E.It's feel like fit exactly and comfortable with those two different brand shoes. So, I'm assume this Timberland Sandal is slightly 1/2 sizes larger than Rockport Oxford.Anyways, it's really very comfortable and only complain maybe it's slightly heavy than other usual sandal like Columbia... However, Timberland Fisherman sandal is made of leather and feel more elegant looking!!!

Great all around summer casual and sport sandal.
Great all around shoe for the summer. I got these to wear to the office with khakis because they are dressy enough for business casual. But then they are also casual enough for shorts after work and weekends, and have a stiff enough sole for bicycle riding too. The rubber toe protector really comes in handy for the bicycle with toe clips.I really like the leather adjustment strap on the side with a Velcro fastener. I can pull it all the way tight for some serious walking, then loosen it later when I am mostly sitting. Also great for adjusting to the thickness of socks, or no socks at all. The padding on the foot bed is great too, making it an extremely comfortable shoe. These had that instantly broken in feel as soon as I took them out of the box and put them on, which is rare. I have very wide feet and wear up to 4E on say New Balance shoes, but these 2E are perfect width. They are slightly long, but with the strap tightened they don't slip around. I like the slight space in front of my toes for air circulation and gives some comfort when riding a bike with toe clips, so the toes aren't jammed up.I liked these so well that after a week I ordered a 2nd pair to keep in reserve, because you never know when a company will stop making a great design, or feel they have to update it and ruin a good thing. I've been wearing these all day at work, and sometimes put them right back on when I go out in the evening. When I had to take a flight that was going to include a lot of walking at the airports, I had no hesitation that these would be the shoes to wear. This is my first pair of Timberland shoes, but won't be my last! I'm even thinking of getting another pair in a diff color. Sure there are cooler and lighter sandals, but for something rugged enough for city or country walking, some light sports, and dressy enough to wear for most summer occasions, these would be hard to beat.**Update - got these early last June and wore them daily through the summer into late fall. Wore them to work and evenings/weekends, really the only shoe I wanted to wear all summer! Put 20-30 miles a week riding bike with them too. Construction and stitching held up fine, soles barely worn. Just oiled them getting ready for spring and they look nicely broken in, in great condition.***Update - starting on third summer with this pair. Wore all last summer riding bicycle - the stitching and sole are still in great condition. The leather is looking a bit worn from using toe clips, but not damaged at all. I got a second pair as the original pair is looking a bit too funky to wear to the office, but otherwise is in good condition.****Update - after 5 years and and several pairs of these sandals, I still love them for everyday to the office and for general casual wear, with or without socks. After a few years the original pair did start to wear through on the sole because of using them extensively for bicycle riding too. The soles are partly hollow and get torn up sooner than if they were solid, but that's probably also what makes them so comfortable. I stopped riding bicycle in the newer pair to preserve them for work, but an older pair I'm using while riding a motorcycle about town and they are great, though now have a black mark where the toe shifter hits. Still highly recommended but watch the price variance, I've seen them go from $60 to $120 and down to $80 in a week's time.*****Update: Why aren't these available lately? Did Timberland decide to come up with something else? Good thing I have an extra pair!

Don't waste your money
While the upper leather is well made, the rubber sole makes the shoes garbage. The genius who designs the three HOLLOWED ribs along the lenght of the sole ruins the otherwise nice shoes. Those hollowed ribs have about 1mm and you only need a couple of walks on a terrain to destroy them. I return them as soon as I saw pictures where the infamous ribs fall apart.

Good but Very expensive, time for an alternative quality better value sandals.
Probably the best sandals, comfortable and airy, but very expensive. I’ve been using them for years but at the cost I have to think twice every time I need a new pair.

The BEST fisherman's sandal on the market; well-made and works great with orthotics. A classic!
My favourite sandal: enclosed heel & toe minimizes risk of damage to feet on a hike. Good quality leather, acceptable foot bed & sole (molded plastic, but good quality). Flat foot bed accepts orthotics (a must for me). Stitching is usually the first thing to go (I've bought three pair over the years) but is easily repaired, by me or a shoe repair guy. I use a pair as indoor slippers. Terrific product, but hard to find and generally only available as a seasonal product. I hope Timberland continues to make these for many years to come. They're a timeless design and hard to improve upon.
