Great addition to your meal!
All of the boxes arrived. This couscous is really good. I like to add shredded chicken or eggs to it for added protein. If you have never tried this before, it is similar to Southern grits.

Tasty and easy to prepare.

Best rice around.
Near East has the best Spanish rice around. The quality and taste are above any other brands out there other than homemade. I do mine in the microwave and it turns out great every time.

good basic pilaf for side dishes and soups
Good basic pilaf. Nice addition to pantry for convenience in coming up with something for dinner. Minimally seasoned- this is the style you use when you want the foundation; add your own additional flavors. Though tastes fine as is too. Just depends on your preferences. I make it as a side dish, or I use it as a base in a soup (or "stewp" as I tend to make thicker soups when using orzo or rice, and this has both!). Can be ade into a cold salad, too. I bought from Amazon warehouse, so the expiry/best by date is real short (expected). But i am not concerned as stuff like this will last well beyond the date. I would expect a much longer date out if buying in a regular amazon order. Ingredients: Parboiled Long Grain Rice, Orzo (Macaroni Product Made From Wheat Flour), Salt, Autolyzed Yeast Extract*, Onions*, Garlic*, Turmeric Spice Which Imparts Color. *Dried

My kids love this
We have been eating this for years. Everyone loves it. My family eats two boxes at a meal and we could probably make good progress into a third box. I only give this four stars because I'd like to see it sold in a larger package - larger boxes or larger cases (or both)!

Why the price hike?
When I first bought a case of this stuff it was very reasonable. When I went to order a second case it seems that the price got jacked-up for no obvious reason. It's not an imported item, it's made here in USA, so why jack-up the price? Beyond that it's very tasty.

Cant go wrong
Always loved this couscous, and this set is a better deal than buying individually in stores. One whole box fits perfectly in a 2 quart pyrex bowl, so to avoid making an extra pot dirty, just toss it in there with water boiled in a kettle, microwave some peas while it sits and absorbs the water for 3-5 minutes, throw the peas in with a shoitload of salt, fluff it up, and bam, done. It really is that fast of a meal. It also claims to be far more than one serving, but, yknow, ymmv. It makes good leftovers (even cold), but if you have a big hungry tummy and it's your whole meal, a person can def finish a box alone. Pro tip for the pyrex method tho: have your couscous, oil, and seasonings already in the bowl before the water is ready. Measure it in a glass measuring cup as fast as you can so it cools down as little as possible. After you pour the hopefully-still-near-boiling water in onto the couscous, immediately put the lid almost all of the way on, just open enough that you can slide a fork in there to mix the couscous into the water, super quick, so it's all covered. Then get outta town and cover it the rest of the way and don't let any more steam escape than you absolutely must. The timing can be a little tricky but once you get the hang of it, it saves you the need to use a pot and transfer to a bowl. Fewer dishes is always a win in my house.
