My first pair of Darn Tough's toughest socks just arrived in the mail. They feel slightly thicker than SmartWool's thickest socks. And, they feel like one thickness and density throughout, whereas the Smartwool hiking socks I am most impressed with have strategically placed extra thickness and density in the ball of the foot, arch and heel.But, "guaranteed for life"? "if these socks wear, tear, or develop holes, Darn Tough will replace them no questions asked. No strings. No conditions."? THAT, makes them very, very desirable to me.If I had known decades ago, If I had bought one pair of these socks when I was just becoming an adult, and tested their assets and strengths back then.. Then, today, I would only have paid for enough of these socks to get me by. And, Darn Tough has instructions for care and cleaning to prolong the life of these socks!!Instead, I have replaced about two pairs of Smartwool socks every 3 years, for about 15 years, as they wear out or get damaged. That is an extremely good investment in my opinion. Darn Tough socks are better than an extremely good investment.I also wear a pair of over-the-calf compression socks under my wool socks to add cushioning, increase blood flow throughout the day at work. I wear the two pairs (one compression pair and one wool pair) of socks all day, every day, all year.Wool socks do not make my feet hot. And, most importantly, wool socks do not retain moisture, cotton socks do retain moisture. My feet are dry at the end of the day. And, if my boots got water in them, my feet would still be kept warm until I could dry everything out.My feet and my boots do not stink because I wear wool socks and do not wear cotton socks.

Finally found a super comfortable sock that will replace my daily Wolverine work socks I wear daily. The cushioning is great and I don’t have to keep constantly pulling them up like every other pair of socks I have (I never once had to pull them up after I put them on). The $30-$35 for a single pair of socks may seem high priced, but with a no questions asked free replacement lifetime warranty, and MADE IN AMERICA, they’re well worth it. I’ve already bought 3 different styles…the OTC heavyweight tactical, the OTC heavyweight hunting, and the OTC heavyweight mountaineering. So far the tactical version has been my favorite. The only difference I see between the 3 pairs is the thickness of the calf portion. I’m so happy I spent the money to give these a try, and I will definitely be buying more!!

I would undoubtedly purchase these again as they are a very well constructed sock that I have ever put in a pair of combat boots. Super soft and extremely comfortable. We'll see about the durability as I have only worn them a few times but expect them to last. The only downside is the cost as they are higher priced than the Fox - but boy are they more comfortable. Highly recommend.

I found DarnTough Socks online a little over a year ago. At the time, they seemed expensive at $31 / pair, but I bought 3 pair anyway because of the lifetime warranty. I figured I would wear these out and get them replaced every so often, but would'nt be spending on socks again. I also liked the fact that these are made in America. I ordered the tactical over the calf socks because of the high percentage of Merino Wool and the fact they are over the calf.I wound up ordering more here on Amazon and throwing all my other socks out.Here are the reasons why:1. They are extremely comfortable these are the best fitting socks I have ever purchased and the added cushion just makes them that much nicer.2. Probably because of the high percentage of merino wool, they never stink. in a pinch, you can wear the same pair several days and there will be no odor.3. They last forever. I machine wash them, then hang them to dry in the laundry room to dry over night. They have not shrunk (all my other merino wool socks shrank over time and became uncomfortable. these have not). In fact, they look exactly like they did the day I bought them and that is after a fulll year of heavy use. I hope, someday, to be able to take advantage of the lifetime warranty, but it is beginning to look like that is a long time on the future.4. although they are not advertised as comppression socks, they fit so perfectly that they serve the same purpose for me without the tedious and uncomfortable pinching on my toes that always acompanies compression socks.I liked these so much I ordered 3 pairs for my 86 years old father. He loved them, commenting "Finally, socks that fit and are also warm".They do get a little warm in the summer, but since I always wear cowboy boots, I can't really tell the difference and I have come to really love the wicking action that keeps them dry even on the hottest days.These socks may look a bit expensive, but they are well worth the money.

Very comfortable and long wearing. The merino wool is great for both hot or cold weather. Their wicking keeps feet dry and less prone to blister. I've worn them in Fairbanks, Alaska in winter and Houston, Texas in summer - was never too hot or too cold. These have extra cushion for comfort all day. Try T4050 if wanting calf length and T4033 if wanting more typical length. You can't go wrong with either. These don't pill like some brands. Highly recommend.

Darn Tough is a great description. My husband is diabetic and these keep his feet warm (w/o overheating) and they are so comfortable. Very high quality. Customer service and warranty are great. Our dog chewed one and they sent him a new pair! He didn't even ask. He had just put in a review that our dog loves them too!

These socks just arrived so I thought I'd try them on. As soon as I took them out of the package, I could tell the foot bed was too long. I wear a 10.5 boot so I ordered these socks as the chart indicated (Large 10 - 12). The heel cup is at my ankle. They're really nice socks and it'smy hopes that they will skrink a bit. If you plan to order these and are on the lower side of the size chart, order a size down. I can make these work, but will reorder a medium size. One star off for the fit...otherwise they're a five star product.

These are great socks. Warm, comfortable and they are guaranteed for life. They kept my feet warm on a 90 minute bike ride in -13C weather. Expensive yes, but great socks. Did I mention the lifetime guarantee?
