Cheap Tool
First of all, it works as it's supposed to. On the other hand, the quality of the item was less than I expected. First, it wouldn't go into the pin hole because there were burrs on the end of the outer tube. Once that (lack of) quality item was taken care of, I was able to insert the tool into the socket...with great difficulty! The extractor worked smoothly and I was able to remove the pin from the body of the socket. However, I was having difficulty extricating the tool from the hole and the handle pulled off! That shouldn't have happened. After replacing the handle, I used pliers to remove the tube, but quickly found that the tube was easily crushed/dented. The tubing is probably steel, but a little more hardening of the metal or a slight increase in the thickness of the metal might give it the necessary strength for this not to happen. Personally, I think hardening of the tube would do the job cheaply. Summary: it does the job, if you coax it along...it is not industrial quality!

Pays for itself
Quickly paid for itself in saving time and parts for reworking mistakes, and even repurposing materials from cables no longer needed. Working for me on TE Connectivity AMP & Molex .093 series, both pins and sockets. Push barrel on, twisting seems to help, then push plunger. Works easily 95%+ of the time; once in a while one is difficult---but that's probably prior pin damage, not the tool's fault.

Pretty good AMP alternative
Ive been using this for AMP MetriMate connectors. The pins and sockets aren’t a super tight fit so they can be easier to get out then on some other shells. So far this one has been great. Though I did run in to a couple of pins that even the AMP/Tyco branded one couldn’t get out. The trick I found for this one and the AMP/Tyco is you have to bottom the tool out, then rotate and push the plunger. It’s a little odd at first but that’s the best way to make sure all of the tines are compressed before you push. If you push and they're not, you can bend them in to the plastic and they’ll never come out. The only real difference that’s important is the barrel on the Jonard is a tad thinner then the AMP/Tyco. Time will tell if this makes a difference on my connectors.

Does Not Work
Ordered 2 of these extractors. Neither of them would remove pins. Both were too big to fit in most of the holes in the plug. If it did fit the plunger did not come down far enough to push pin out. Plunger pushed back in to handle. Also got both stuck in plug and pulled the outer part of extractor off. Both were completely unusable. Bought the AMP brand equivalent and worked just fine on the same plugs. Spend the extra money and buy the AMP brand extractor.

Great for removing pins for accessories on Eaton Magnum Breakers. Cooked coil no problem just disconnect it and take a new one from the spare on the switchboard.. if there is one. This tool I don't use often but its critical when you need it.
