I didn't have to cut either though the front one is just slightly scrunched at the zipper. I have worn these for a little over a month. I was washing my inner and outer carrier twice a week but find there is no odor (verified by family members) after wearing my vest in an outer carrier for three days in a row. I have cut down to washing my carrier once a week due to getting it dirty. I work in the daytime and have a salt line on my t-shirt at the waistline at the end of every day. I am pretty impressed with these things. I would/will buy them again if they wear out or stop working.After four years of wearing the Armor Insole I can't say enough positive things to describe my appreciation for this miracle product. I wore an outer vest working 3x12 hour shifts for the first couple years and 4x10 hour shifts wearing my armor under my duty shirt for the last two years. The Armor Insole seems to function as well now as when I purchased it. I am due for an armor replacement (coming any day now) so I purchased a new Armor Insole for the new armor. I have not used the new set yet. I wash my vest carrier once a week and let the Armor Insole air out for a day or two while my vest is apart. I have never added any chemicals or deodorizers to the Armor Insole. I have worn my vest four days in a row this week. I hang it in the closet when at home. I just told my 11 year old granddaughter my vest was clean and asked her to smell the inside of it. She reported there was no odor at all, and we all know how brutally honest an 11 year old is. I don't know how these things work, but it must be some kind of magic. When working 10-14 hour shifts, the last thing I want to do is use my time off taking apart my vest to wash it daily. It cut to fit perfectly inside and cut down on the odor for a while. However, my duty issue Under-carry Vest is like a sauna, especially during the summer months. And then there’s that unpleasant odor from my vest when I take it off. The odor even crosses over to my undershirt and sometimes to my uniform shirt. There had to be something I can purchase to add to my vest so I can wear it without that unpleasant odor. I searched Amazon looking for a remedy and I found a product called “Armor Insole”. After reading it’s product description and consumer ratings, I decided to give it a try. Boy, am I glad I did. After installing the Armor Insole to my vest and wearing my vest on duty, when my shift ended, I took off my vest...no odor!! The Armor Insole did what the manufacturer stated; odor eliminator.
