Standard Engineer quality...which means excellence
Absolutely a five star product, as are most things Engineer. These pliers were a compromise for me but ended up being the best balance for what I wanted. What I'd really like are some of the cheap-cheap 120mm pliers with the shorter nose but still with a side cutter...in a high quality grind with high quality steel. That doesn't exist unfortunately. So these were a tad larger than my ideal but still had larger cushioned grips, and those grips come up close to the pivot joint (which I find to be a very desirable feature) while not being obtrusive or bulbous. My ideal plier was available from Knipex but only in a standard thin vinyl grip, and most other high quality minis omit the side cutter. This pair arrived with zero grind defects and good sharp even cutting surfaces, tips that meet and are shaped correctly and alike, and that nice buttery light but effective return spring. All of the teeth on the jaws are nicely done, barely a bur to be found. I was hoping that the flat surface of the jaws would be zero gap but there is a small one, so anyone that is gripping or bending thin metal strips (like nickel battery strips, disassembling battery packs, etc) may want to choose a different plier for that. I still chuckle when I see the bizarre pattern and texturing on these newer Engineer grips, but y'know, they are comfortable and grippy and long wearing, no complaints there. Most Japanese tools are very well made, if not exceptionally well designed, too...Engineer is both of those and I think for what models they offer they are one of the best tool brands out there, quite on par with any of the top German and Swiss brands, and besting most of what I've seen from the US brands of late. Have not regretted buying any of their stuff yet and really enjoy using them.

Simply perfect
I can only say that I am delighted with the product. In a world where there are so many low quality things made in China, it is wonderful to have found these Japanese made pliers. Both the finish and the materials are of excellent quality, the jaws, cutting areas and gripping areas are well made, the jaws and tips are well aligned and close perfectly. The various metal parts fit together perfectly, there is not that feeling of wear and loss of material in the movement areas that is so typical of cheap, low quality tools. The only caveat I could give is that the brand offers 2 different sizes for their tools, so it's a good idea to make sure you choose the right one for your needs, also, if you have large hands, you may find the small size tool difficult to use.

This is really good
One of the things I loved most about these pliers was their versatility. They were able to grip and manipulate various materials, including wire, jump rings, and chains, with ease. Whether I was cutting, bending, or shaping, the pliers performed admirably and helped me achieve precise and professional results. In terms of durability, the pliers exceeded my expectations. Despite regular use, they remained sharp and sturdy, with no signs of wear or damage. The high-quality construction and materials used in the pliers made them a reliable tool that I can depend on for future projects.

Great product, but not cheap.
The small size has made gotten me out of many of jams. I really like the ergonomics as well. Feels like an extension of the hand. They are worth the price, but still a little spendy.

High quality
I needed some smaller precision tools and after doing alot of reading and YouTube videos, decided on these. I'm sold on this brand. These are made from high quality carbon steel, not stainless that most other companies use for small implements like this. The machining is absolutely perfect, the action is free but still tight at the joint, and the spring has good rebound to the handles. I'm definitely buying more Engineer products. I love a company that pays attention to detail and do obvious honor to their craft. Highly recommend.

Fantastic tools
Engineer brand pliers are wonderful tools. Tolerances and build quality are top notch and it is my go to brand for any kind of small pliers or cutters. My only wish is they made a wider variety of tools. You can probably get away with those “port cargo” brand tools in large sloppy sizes but when it comes to small hand tools for fine work nothing beats these Engineer brand tools. I can’t tell you how frustrating the cheap build quality can be when you’re trying to do some fine work. My old pair didn’t even line up the tip well and the “spring” two pieces didn’t even line up. Buy these now and you will never regret it.
