Biona Organic Tempeh,Organic Fermented Whole Soya Beans, 6 x 400g

No way of returning food - but it gave me gastrointestinal sickness and diarrhoea. Like others have said I’ve had tempeh before. It tasted ok but made me unwell!

This is the first time I have eaten tempeh so I have nothing to compare it to (apart from tofu) and I really enjoyed it. I prefer it to tofu and its lovely marinaded in olive oil and tamari sauce with a stir fry. Super healthy and very quick to produce. The person moaning about the weight being misleading has too much time on their hands. The jar is crammed full of tempeh and its more than enough for one person to last two or three days. Considering you "only" get 175g of tempeh per jar as opposed to the 400g with water the price is very reasonable. I would recommend.

Love the product but some jars always arrive leaking. That`s the only reason I`ve knocked a star off.

Amazon is the perfect place for making purchases of this particular Tempeh, good prices & long shelf life of product too. By the way, because Tempeh is pickled in unsalted water within a glass jar, you don't experience the horrible taste of ammonia, as with fresh Tempeh !

Usually I get tempeh from the Chinese supermarket ( although it's not actually a Chinese food apparently ) I slice it, marinade it and then bake or fry it as a veggie bacon substitute. I thought having a suplly in jars would be easier than having to buy it fresh. I made veggie meatballs with the first jar and I couldn't actually eat them. There was a really strong bitter flavour that was overwhelming. A bit of googling and I found a suggestion to steam it first to remove the bitterness. I tried that. Once, then again incase I hadn't steamed it right the first time. Nothing removes that overpowering and very unpleasant smell and flavour that I just don't associated with tempeh. So... if you don't like this, don't let it put you off. Locate some in the frozen section of most Chinese supermarkets and try that instead. This stuff i found was just really really unpleasant. Fortunately I have some vegan pals to pass out the rest of the jars too and see what they make of it. I just don't recommend this at all I'm afraid.

Great taste and is a good substitute in foods! This was very flavoursome and is great for the price as I've found it hard to find this in the usual shops! I will definitely buy again!

Tempeh is a delicious and nutritious product which can be prepared in a variety of ways (frying works well for me). However, it should be a simple point of logic that if you pack 6 heavy jars containing liquid tight up against each other with no padding between them, and only one layer of bubblewrap surrounding the whole package, something is bound to go horribly wrong. Twice I ordered the six-pack of jars, and twice it arrived with half the jars shattered, glass fragments contaminating the product and liquid spilling everywhere. I'm astonished that the company didn't learn something from the first situation and get their product appropriately protected to withstand the rigours of transport. This will also apply to their jars containing tofu, by the way - buyer beware.

I ordered 6 bottles.. The information on the side of the bottle says dry weight 400gm but both of the 1st 2 bottles i used contained no more than 200gm dry weight...! Can you explain why please?

Produkt ist in Ordnung, aber der Preis/Kg grenzt an Betrug, da er sich auf das Füllgewicht mit Wasser bezieht, nicht auf die Nettoeinwaage. Auch ist fraglich, ob sie Verpackung im Glas mit 200ml+wirklich die umweltfreundlichere ist.
