**Q: Is it compatible with 3.0 Usb type?**
A: Yes, it will work.

**Q: Is this compatible with MAC?**
A: The military link that is posted on my listing says it is not mac friendly. I do have GemPc twins listed on amazon that are Mac friendly Anthony

**Q: Will this work on Windows 8 or 8.1?**
A: NO.  As a matter of fact I had to downgrade to a Windows 7 for it to match my job, & i still can't get it to work, but i suspect that's more my job than my pc

This CAC reader works great on my Windows 8.1 computer once I was able to find all of the necessary certificates which took a lot of looking for.

I just purchased this product, and am going to return it. I came with _zero_ instructions. I searched, and scrolled way down on militarycac.com, and finally found it this model. They say it will not work on Windows 7, and I should get a more modern reader. Entirely inadequate information in the description.
