So if its lost or stolen it will automatically lock if the correct sequences of numbers is not entered and will basically self destruct all the contents beyond recovery if the recovery code isn't entered. Review: Does the job - I wanted a high capacity and very secure key. It satisfies those requirements. It was suggested to me by a colleague who has the same though with a smaller capacity ## Features - FIPS 140-2 Level 3 Validation (pending 1 Q 2019) - Aegis Configurator Compatible - Separate Admin and User Mode - Two Read-Only Modes - Data Recovery PINs ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B07GKZWB6N | | Best Sellers Rank | 69,520 in Computers & Accessories ( See Top 100 in Computers & Accessories ) 765 in USB Flash Drives | | Brand | Apricorn | | Brand Name | Apricorn | | Colour | Black | | Compatible Devices | Ordinary with USB ports (A and C) | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 699 Reviews | | Flash Memory Type | USB | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00708326914635 | | Hardware Connectivity Technology | USB Type A | | Hardware Interface | USB 3.0 | | Hardware interface | USB 3.0 | | Item Dimensions D x W x H | 8.3D x 13.2W x 2.5H centimetres | | Item Type Name | hardware encrypted secure USB drive | | Item Weight | 0.05 Pounds | | Manufacturer | Apricorn | | Manufacturer Part Number | ASK3-NX-8GB | | Memory Storage Capacity | 8 GB | | Memory storage capacity | 8 GB | | Model Name | ASK3-NX-8GB | | Model Number | ASK3-NX-8GB | | Network Connectivity Technology | USB | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Product Features | Dust Proof, Lightweight, Water Resi | | Product Warranty | 3 years | | Read Speed | 77 Megabytes Per Second | | Read speed | 77 Megabytes Per Second | | Special feature | Dust Proof, Lightweight, Water Resi | | UPC | 708326914635 | | Unit Count | 1.0 count | | Write Speed | 72.0 | | Write speed | 72.0 | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Apricorn - **Hardware interface:** USB 3.0 - **Memory storage capacity:** 8 GB - **Special feature:** Dust Proof, Lightweight, Water Resi - **Write speed:** 72.0 ## Images ![Apricorn ASK3-NX-8GB Hardware Encrypted Secure USB Drive - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/719pd2ToGxL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: can battery be replaced?** A: There are no provisions for replacing the internal battery within the sealed case. The manual states that "If Secure Key isn’t frequently used, plug device into a powered USB port for 90 minutes every 90 days to maintain optimum battery performance." I have had good experiences with my device and there have been no battery-related issues. **Q: Does this support a self-destruct pin?** A: By default, the Self-Destruct feature is disabled. To allow the Secure Key to be set with a Self-Destruct PIN, Enter the Admin mode. Answer is yes. **Q: how is the usb personal security device used with online banking** A: The Secure Key is a thumb-drive that has internal security features. However, it's still functions like any thumb-drive. You can save things from your device onto the Secure Key or you can copy something from your Secure Key and save it, or sent it someplace else. I don't imagine the your information would be secure while it's being transferred. I hope this helps. **Q: Will the device experience data loss if the battery is fully discharged for a long period of time?** A: It does not under normal circumstances. It charges its battery when you plug it into live USB, but the memory itself is non-volatile and doesn't need battery to keep its data. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hi Security *by J***N on 26 July 2020* As a security Consultant, I was looking for a secure storage device that meets or is equivalent to government standard and this fits the bill.
