Songs for Young Lovers & Swings Easy

Lived up to expectations

I recently bought 4 Frank Sinatra CDs, and this is the best. The sound quality is excellent. It hasn't been butchered by sound engineers with compression, equalization, etc. It's just great Frank Sinatra. 2-8-2015 Thee are several different versions of "Songs for Young Lovers/Swing Easy". I noticed that Amazon seems to be putting the reviews of all of the versions together. My review was for the 1987 EMI version. I haven't heard the 1998 version, but from what I have read, the mastering on the 1998 version may be much worse than the EMI version. If you are considering buying this CD, you may want to consider the older EMI version.

This "Music For Pleasure" edition of these first 2 Capitol albums by Mr. S is THE "go to" copy for those looking for audiophile sound. Extensive research by several Sinatra audio buffs has this one winning hands-down over any other available source. Yes, even better than the Mobile Fidelity Silver Box record!!! Buy it...you will NOT be sorry!

My two favorite Sinatra LPs are his first two at Capitol Records. This was the first--Swing Easy/Songs for Young Lovers. Actually two albums recorded initially in '54 on the smaller album formats (45 speed? I don't recall) in those days. Later released as one 33 rpm LP. Every song in the Swing Easy album (one side) is a classic. Every one. The other side, Songs for Young Lovers also has a few classics, but the Swing Easy is my favorite side. The next Capitol LP, In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning, released in '55, is my other favorite LP, and established Sinatra as an icon, the leading singer in the business. The 50s at Capitol, until 1960, were Sinatra in his vocal prime, and established him as the greatest American singer.

Two excellent Sinatra 10 inchers on one disc. Good sound. Great liner notes by Peter Welding. A worthy addition to any Sinatra collection.

Can’t go wrong with ol blue eyes!

Sinatra is such a good crooner that he is totally in a class of his own. His vocals are so good that adjectives almost do not do them justice. However, words like stupendous, amazing and out of this world just barely scratch the surface. It is true that he did not write any of the lyrics on this album but it is his vocals that one listen to. The lyrics are well written and have not aged one bit. This actutally a re-release of two of his most enjoyed albums, these being swing easy and songs for young lovers. I love the book-let with the intersting tid bit regarding these albums and the photos are awesome. This is an album not to be missed.

Contient ses deux premiers albums pour Capitol sortis en 1954:"Songs for young Lovers" et "Swing easy!". Que de l'indispensable..."My Funny valentine" et "Violets for your furs" donnent la chair de poule...Le reste est à l'avenant que ce soit sur les morceaux lents ou Jazz comme "They Can't Take That Away from Me" des frères Gershwin ou "I Get a Kick out of You", "Just One of Those Things " de Cole Porter. Bref, ça vaut dix étoiles...
