State of Trance Year Mix '04

What a fantastic reproduction of 2004’s Year Mix; this compilation took me back and is a great representation of how awesome Armin Van Buuren is. As another reviewer pointed out, the tracks on the album are not the full songs- they are just around 2 minutes or so of the “meat” of each classic and seamlessly mixed with the proceeding and subsequent song. This may not sit well with listeners as the regular State of Trance collections were mixed with more or less the entire song. Regardless, I still think it’s a worthwhile purchase for a high-fidelity version of the mix that was streamed over a decade ago. Definitely recommended.

The mix is great. Armin makes most tracks sound fantastic by including the excellent sections of even bad tracks in this mix, making the mix generally sound great overall. The introducing tracks sound good.

Been waiting for this one for a couple of months... every time I went to order it, it was sold out! Well worth the wait though, this is Armin in top form. These 2 CDs are absolute art.Should not be missed!

Only one word to describe this yearmix; flawless. Endless onslaught of songs that bring your mind to another place. Perfect yearmix.

"A State of Trance: Yearmix 2011" by Armin Van Buuren is a good two cd set that contains forty-seven tracks on the first cd and forty-two on the second. I had the good fortune of seeing him in concert (back in Novemer 2011) and listening to these two cds is the next best thing to that. There is definitely something for everyone in this collection ("Cosmic Gate" is one of my favorites). "A State of Trance: YearMix 2011" is an excellent purchase for those who enjoy any songs mixed by Armin Van Buuren and/or a trance compilation featuring various artists.

Fantastic remake of Episode 182. I did notice, though, that the tracks "Hello Strings" and "Clear Blue" are missing OR have been cut from the final mix. But maybe I'm nitpicking here, the overall mix is fine and it just sounds wonderful!

I'm probably gonna get flamed for this from other AVB fans, but I want to caution others thinking of buying this CD. From the other 5 star reviews I was eager to get this one, but was really disappointed. First, yeah there are something like 40 tracks, but each one is about a 2 minute clip, which isn't nearly long enough for the structure and mood of a trance track to mature. Second, it plays like a Best Of compilation, which are notorious for lacking the congruence of an original album. Third, several of the tracks are from ASOT 2011, chopped into little pieces. So you're better off getting that one, which, by the way, is superb. Fourth, practically every track has vocals, and most of the lyrics and voices are pop angst, not the angelic fantasy non-sense that is the hallmark of trance. If you dislike vocals in trance, especially ghetto wailing of irrelevant lyrics, pass on this collection. Fifth, and probably worst of all, the mix is terrible, almost insulting. It sounds like Armin set up a generic backline (beat) and pulled it way to the front to hide the seams as he haphazardly mixed the little snippets behind it. The result is a string of uninteresting interrupted melodies hung on an uninspired monotonous percussion that blares out like a noisy 9-year-old.Sounds like Armin just phoned this one in.

As a trance addict for 20 years with over 500 albums I always find this series Flawless! Armin van Buuren used to be all about trance but now he is in the cesspit of EDM and the only trance that he is dishing out is his yearly state of trance albums and the Year mix albums.The yearly state of trance albums will never get a 5 star rating because they are just not wholely trance as there is always a dirty side dish of EDM served in these albums.But in these year mix albums we always get a constant State of Trance throughout. I was very sceptical before I started to buy the Year mix albums in 2016 because I just couldn't believe that they would satisfy given the short time on each song but it's seriously surprised me when I realised it worked so I bought the whole series up to 2017 current year and I've never been disappointed as a serious trance addict.

Abwechslungsreicher Mix. Knackig, spannend. Es sind keine Wiederholungen oder Schleifen vorhanden, die einzelnen Tracks haben einen individuellen Charakter, sehr empfehlenswert !

d'habitude, avec Armin, je me régale avec les universal religion ou state of trance classiques (c'est commercial à souhait, mais au moins on distingue les morceaux et entre 50% de morceaux décevants il y en a toujours des sympas)ici sur ce mix, ou plutot ce jus, tellement c'est mixé court (des morceaux de 1mn chacun = beaucoup de morceaux et aucun à savourer vraiment)les extraits choisis ont l'air clonés !le meilleur moment de mon écoute c'est quand le disque s'est arrêtéce disque est presque un sample de 1mn répété 100 fois...
