Do the stories contain diverse characters?

The character names in some of the stories appear to reflect a diversity of ethnic backgrounds (John, Jenny, Jose, Tyrell, Hiro, Maria, Mateo, Ori, etc.), though more of them are stereotypical Anglo-Saxon names than not. The pictures that accompany the stories are all just line drawings on a white background, with no skin color or shading, so they could be anything, or they could be interpreted as all white; I guess they could potentially shaded in to make the characters look more diverse, though. Hairstyles of the drawn characters don't reflect a lot of BIPOC diversity in hairstyles, though.

Is it possible to purchase the story book alone?

I don't think so I think it only comes as a kit, especially on Amazon, but you might be able to by single items if you go to the story champs website and buy straight from them.
