How do you insert a new blade.  It may take a lot of explaining as I didn't  see the bade before it was out.

Hi hope the video is helpful, to be honest, you should not need to change the blade many times. I sharpen my blade when it is in the knife on a fine diamond plate and hone it on a leather strop if you do this and have three spare blades this is all you will need in your lifetime.

size of blade. What is the size of the cutting edge? Looking at cutting polystyrene 50mm thick. Thanks.

The blade is not big or strong enough for 50mm - mine gave up locking in position about the 5th time I used it. Probably OK for 25mm polystyrene. A small / short fine tooth handsaw is messier but best for keeping straight cuts and is plenty strong enough for any thickness of insulation.

Would this knife be classified as a lock knife or a folding knife by a police officer

A lock knife has a mechanism which locks the blade in position when fully extended, and the blade cannot be closed without that mechanism being released. 
On this knife, you have to pull on the black plastic section at the very back to release the blade, allowing it to swivel back into the closed position. 
Therefore, even though it has a very small blade, teachnically it is an offence to carry around this knife if you do not have good reason.
