The Lost Boy

This was really a great book. If you grow up in a regular home you have no idea what some kids go through. We had foster kids when we were younger and you just don't know what they will do to survive.

One of the greatest book I ever read on child abuse. Amazing Story about a young boy who found love and forgiveness In the arms of Jesus Christ. If this doesn't open your eyes up to what happens to children every day in their homes then you need to read this book.

I wasn't a big reader until recently after finishing my Master's degree and not having anything to do with all my free time. I heard about A Child Called It from a friend and read it in 24 hours. It was a horrifying tale and I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to go through that kind of abuse and neglect as a child. Within the hour of finishing that book, I drove to the closest bookstore to pick up The Lost Boy, but I couldn't find it!!! I ordered it from Amazon and the wait was somewhat painful. I just had to know what happened next and I couldn't stop thinking about little David Pelzer until my book finally arrived! I was so happy that David had been rescued in the first book and that he was fortunate enough to find a few foster parents that showed him the love that he missed out on as a child. The book describes an incredibe adventure and vividly tells of a continued struggle that no one should have to go through. I would recommend this whole series to anyone! I almost didn't read the 3rd one, because I was pretty satisfied that David Pelzer was okay after the second book... but Pelzer had sucked me in with his incredible life story and I just had to know how everything turned out. I honestly recommend all three books to anyone and everyone. It truly broke my heart to read these books, but I feel like a better (more enlightened) person for knowing about David Pelzer and his tragic childhood which turned into an incredible, amazing life. I'm sure you will too!

I have read this book several times. It never gets old. He wrote it so well. I’ve read the whole series!

After reading a Child Called It I had to read The Lost Boy to find out what happened to Dave Pelzer. It was hard to believe child abuse on this level could happen! I wanted to see if his mother was ever brought to justice for what she did to him. I didn't find out in this book but it was worth reading to find out about our foster care system. I had to keep in mind that that this took place in the 70's and 80's as to not be more upset with a broken system as it was just the times and the realities of child abuse becoming public were just coming into play. I pray that today system is much better. This is an honest book written by a man who desires greatly to never allow another child to go through what he went through.

Very excited to read it! I didn’t know there was a second book to the story!

I just finished this book right after i read "Child called it", and i couldn't take my eyes off... I read those 2 books in 3-4 days (having 3 small children, it takes reading till early morning)... I am myself a survivor of child abuse... my mother is and always was a sick person, so reading this book I found myself relating to David so often, and I cried...and cried! It's an amazing writing and it makes me so happy to find out that David did not just survive, but made the best out of such horrific experiences.
