396-JT Folding Pruning Saw

I purchased this saw despite already having two Silky saws and a Bahco Laplander. I was disappointed in the performance of the Laplander compared to the Silky saws but the replacement blades of the Silky saws are nearly as much as the saws themselves--and they are pricey! This Bahco saw is less expensive than a replacement Silky blade and performs just as well as a Silky. The blade also seems stronger than the Silky, So far, I am very impressed and I like that replacement blades are nearly half the cost of the Silky blades.

Take it over the Felco 600 anyday. I had so many problems and read many reviews about people snapping the flimsy blades on the Felco 600. I loved my Bahco PX-M so much (after giving up on the Felco 2 poor blade quality) thought it was time to give Bahco folding saw a try. The teeth design of the 396-JT is meant for soft/green wood. The 396-HP is meant for hard/dry wood. Make sure you buy the right one for your application. I saw that one review bought one design and used it for the wrong application.

I've used this a few times and the blade is great! The handle however, feels flimsy. However, for use a few times a year camping or around the house, this will do just fine.

Bahco tools definitely don’t get enough love in the USA, for the price they are often superior to the local competition. I have been using them for 2 decades and have never been disappointed.

Good Saw... Very sharp,,, easy to carry...Love the safety lock ! Makes for good Preppers equipment...

For decades I have been using one of these saws when I am out on ground clearance; doing conservation work etc. As a tool-using person, I rate these as purely marvellous. I have 'taken out' quite seriously sized trees, without undue effort. The blades stay sharp for years - I just changed the blade after about 20 years. Out on the trail, it almost replaces the bow saw - and just about fits in a pocket. Recommended without reservation!

Diese Säge ist handlich und sehr scharf. Die Äste der Bäume, wenn sie nicht zu dick sind, werden schnell durchtrennt, Beim Zusammenklappen hat meine Hand auch schon Bekanntschaft mit der Schärfe gemacht, ist aber gut verheilt, denn ich habe vergessen, den Knopf zu betätigen.

La compré por algo menos de 20€ y este modelo es para mí el ideal en cuanto a tamaño, peso, resistencia, tracción (con varios modelos de guantes),y con la hoja JT el mantenimiento de pinos, acacias rebeldes y frutales varios, se me hace muy fácil. Segro que puede con eucalipto, encina, chopo. Más de 24€ me parece demasiado sabiendo que las Silky con este tipo de dentado se pueden encontrar Googleando más baratas de lo que marcan aquí.

Hard to adequately describe how good these are and at the price here (£23) incredible value vs other options. In cutting ability, the JT (Japan teeth versions are a match for any similar sized Silky saw (e.g. Pocketbook 170, Gomboy 210, F180) yet the steel has the durability of the Bahco laplander; under duress it will bend, but it doesn't snap like Silky Saws can if they bind on the push stroke. I've been using it for a couple of years and not detected any loss of sharpness. I like the slimmer profile (vs. Gomboy/Pocketboy) when folded and the orange colour helps to spot it if you drop it or leave it lying around. It's light enough to slip into the slim rear pocket of Dickies type work trousers, I've actually taken mine off after a day in the garden and realised the saw was still in there.
