Gratitude is a choice. If we fail to chose it, by default we choose ingratitude. And once allowed into the heart, ingratitude does not come by itself, but with other seedy companions that only succeed in stealing joy. Derived from a popular Revive Our Hearts radio series, Choosing Gratitude: Your Journey to Joy challenges and equips the reader to live a life of intention, a life based on thankfulness for the freedom Christ has provided and for the blessings of others. By intentionally thanking God and others, bitterness and entitlement are replaced with joy and the humble realization of just how undeserving we really are. To not choose gratitude is more costly than we usually realize. When we do choose a lifestyle of heartfelt, humble gratitude, we are mindful of the benefits received from our gracious Savior and those He has placed around us, and our joy becomes full. Includes a bonus 30-day plan of devotional activities to help the reader on her path to joy. Review: great book! - This is a book that you could call life-changing. Definitely a must read! We live in the most affluent period of human history if you live in the Westte today. But so many of us are filled with anxiety and ingratitude. Thatโs not how things should be. Review: A Practical Read with Loads of Biblical Scripture Referencing - Hi, everyone. I purchased this book because this was the chosen book for my church's Women's Bible Reading Book Club. Before reading this book I thought that I was advanced in giving thanks, but this book revealed to me that there is way more fruit of thanksgiving opportunities that I was missing out on. It also has been a good supplemental read as I read through the Book of Numbers (i.e., the grumbling Israelites in the wilderness passages) during my Bible studies. The book does a great job on unpacking what choosing gratitude in our own lives can look like. It took me on a journey closer to the heart of God. I liked the heartfelt gratitude message backed by personal life experiences, results, and copious amounts of Bible scripture referencing. I also liked the thought-provoking, insightful, and encouraging writing style of Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth. I liked how the book educated me about the importance of what living a life of Christ-like gratitude towards God and others is. Nancy goes above and beyond by adding a practical life application 30-Day Gratitude Devotional at the end of the book to help guide her readers into hopefully developing a natural propensity to being grateful (and even helped me to be more forgiving) in every life situation. Basically, I believe it is choosing to find and giving thanks about the roses instead of whining about just the thorns. Showing my gratitude to others opens up more opportunities for me to share The Gospel with others. I have already completed reading all the chapters of the book and I'm currently on day 19 of the 30-Day Devotional. I am quite pleased how much joy and peace is in my heart since I have expressed more intentional and consistent gratitude and love to God, to those around me, and being more Christ-like. I look forward to completing the 30-days and continuing this healthy habit in the future. I'm not sure if Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth reads any of these reviews, but I thank God that He has blessed you, Nancy, with a heart towards God and a gift for writing. Thank you for encouraging me to grow in the gratitude area of my life towards God and others. It has brought great blessing and richness into my life, those around me, and deepened my relationship with Christ. I hope the best for you + family. Thank you! God bless! Mrs. Arbuckle

Ladies Bible Study
I ordered this book to use for a Ladies Bible Study I led. It was such an encouraging book & was a great reminder that God's goodness & care are all around us & how we always have something to be thankful for. It also talked about the negative impacts of an ungrateful heart. There was a lot of scripture throughout this book. It was a great study to get us prepared for Thanksgiving, & a lot of women commented on how much the book blessed them.

Transforming if applied.
This concept, along with Nancy Leigh's application ideas, has been transforming for my life. It has become an anchor in difficult times when gratitude is not on the tip of my tongue. I have shared this concept of living within a perspective of gratitude with the women I have contact. Thank you Nancy.

With a Thanful Heart
Thankfulness is a command, not a suggestion. Thankfulness in ALL things, always. This book is convicting and encouraging. Great insight and ideas. A fee quotes to whet your appetite... "A grateful heart is God-centered and others-conscious, while an ungrateful person is self-centered and self-conscious." "Two kinds of people: grateful and ungrateful. Worshipers and whiners. But only one kind, like Fanny Crosby, can lift her blind eyes toward heaven and exclaim in song and spirit, 'Perfect submission, perfect delight, visions of rapture now burst on my sight.'" โA humble mind,โ Henry Ward Beecher once said, โis the soil out of which thanks naturally grow.โ

A breath of fresh air
As the subtitle suggests, this book connects the dots between gratitude and Christian joy. I already knew the two are related, but I was challenged through the book to recognize specifically on what points they connect--namely humility and an outward focus. Through these pages the Lord worked in my heart to show me how ingratitude had worked its way into my life in ways I had not recognized. Subtle expectations I hadn't identified and buried pride surfaced. It's easy to get so wrapped up in ourselves--even in our service to others--that we become burdened and inward focused. Choosing Gratitude highlights how effective gratitude is to usher us into the presence of God. It enables us to break away from ourselves and renew our joy. I read the book scattered through more sittings than I normally like, catching several pages during my lunch break or before bed. But each time I opened it, the book was a breath of fresh air--an encouragement to experience joy by choosing gratitude. My favorite part of the book, however, was the thirty-day gratitude journal in the back. It was the icing on the cake for an already helpful book. You can begin this gratitude journal even as you read the book at the same time.
