The instructions and demonstrations are easy to follow, inspiring a desire to spring to the drawing board to try them out! What comes through most strongly however, is the author’s absolute joy in the creative process of rendering light, contrast and values in achieving likenesses in his artwork.Highly recommended!!

Very good book, very informative. Definitely worth the money.

This book has a lot of information, and I would say a great start for beginners. The 'Mass method' is accurate and helpful. I am personally working on the Loomis method ATM, which isn't even mentioned in this book.

This is a great book that teaches what is called the maas method. It is a mix between grid and freehand and it is excellent. The only drawback is you have to draw the exact size of your reference. The method isnt perfect but it is good. I attached a portrait I did with the maas method. One of the pluses of this book is that is teaches how to draw facial features, accessories and hair. This is great for a beginner artist like me. I recommend this book.

I have been following Ed's work or a while. just an amazing artist. the book contains a summary on how he approaches his work and provides good info to get started. i have been waiting for this book ever since he announced. so glad i got it. go or it, you wont go wrong.
