Has any actually tried this in a 30" sink?

Yes, we just put this in a 30" base. The opening of our cabinet was 28.5, and that's exactly what this sink measured. We had to modify the cabinet slightly so get it to fit. I'm happy we did it, because this sink is awesome! It's huge and so well made. I love it!

Does this sink fit standard US plumbing?

Yes it does! I love this sink. It is so big I can fit large items in it to wash with ease.
