Great replacment for worn out overflow prefilters.
Cut in half to match my old prefilters, and it works perfectly. Material is sturdier than previous prefilters, so I don't have to worry about the top parts collapsing in and cutting off the water flow to my sump.

Necessary function
The first set of chromis I put in my reef tank were very small. One was small enough that fell into the overflow, through the U-tube and in the back box. Shortly after, I went online to buy this to from to stop a fish from falling into the sump. I had to adjust my system after buying the foam, because it was extremely loud. The other issue with the foam is stuff constantly getting stuck in the foam. This is a positive, because it is filters out things out of the tank, but I have filter floss that is already in the sump to take care of that. Tired of always cleaning, but necessary to save the life of an unlucky fish.
