Nursing Drug Handbook 2015 35th Edition

I needed updates for medication information. I am a nurse since 2013. I had a 2012 book from a different author, but I really liked the Lippincott book and bought it for my computer, mini iPod, and phone. It is nice to look up medications by texting or typing, so the computer looks them up. That way it is convenient. I saw some missing drugs that were not there, but that was ok. I just looked up the other two drugs online. Lippincott is short and to the point. The book broke down drug information short and simplified. I like this one because it is straight and to the point with not so much medical jargon to make it confusing. Having different books are nice because I can look up any differences or similarities each drug book has to offer. I gave it a 4 on the scale because I did not find all the drugs I was looking for except two.

From a beginning nurse to a seasoned physician, this is the easiest, to the point publication for getting the straight facts on medications. When I started my career as a Nurse Practitioner over 25 years ago, I used the PDR(physician's desk reference) that was given to offices by drug companies. It has become impossible just to find the dose, side effects, drug interactions and uses now. Lippincott has been putting out this product for years. I am working in an office with no direct connection to an online source and even if I did; I would defer to this. It is fast easy and still a reasonable price. I love it. It is 3 times thicker than when I began....which goes to prove that drug interactions are of paramount importance. Remember, the pharmacy at your hospital or the chains in your town are SUPPOSED to check for interactions...Stay with ONE pharmacy.

Easy to use, easy to understand guide to your medications. What's this med used for? What are the side effects? What medications - prescription or over the counter - should I avoid while taking this medication? How should I use this medication? All this plus more in this guide. While meant for nurses, it can be used by anyone. Much easier to understand than the physician desk reference (PDR) for a non-medical person. Publishes annually; I replace mine every 2-3 years. If you stay reasonably up to date then you get the latest medications and any changes to info on existing meds. It is a must have.

If I'm a physician/practitioner, I am most likely looking for a set of drugs applicable to the patient's presenting signs/symptoms. I.E. A list of anti-diarrheal medications. If I'm a nurse, on the other hand, I am most likely looking for information on a specific drug I have been ordered to administer to my patient. Contraindications, alternate names, interactions, etc.Why then would the NURSING Drug Handbook be laid out in a format of diagnoses, and lists of drugs applicable to said diagnoses? Also, drug names are in small print, with other things in all caps/bold print all over the page, which is truly confusing. Add to that the fact that medications as common as MgCl are entirely absent, and I find it downright shocking that this book is so well reviewed. If you are able to preview the index for this book, I encourage you to take a look at how absurdly short the list of medications is.I would recommend opting for an actual pharmacopeia of some sort.

Love this book! My college suggested a skyscape app, which was awful. This has the important IV administration information in a red box so it is easy to find in a hurry. The major or more common side effects are also listed in bold so you know which ones to remember. The only thing that threw me for a loop was that vitamins and minerals have their own section in the back, you will not find them if you follow the alphabetized tabs like the other medications.

I purchased this drug book after the one I received wasnt really helping me during clinicals. I had trouble finding certain medications or nursing interventions that I was required to know. This drug book has everything! From precautions to the newest drugs that are being used today! Now even my classmates are borrowing mine during clinicals and are even buying their own! I highly recommend this drug book to nursing students who want to know all the up to date things

I love this book so much! This is my first nursing drug guide and so far I'm impressed.Con-it is pretty big. When I got to clinicals it comes with me. My scrub top has big pockets, but when I put this book in there I have to use other pockets to put stuff in. Pros-has a dictionary format, easy to understand, cintains actual size pics of medications that are commonly used.

I'm a new DON and I need this book strictly for reference. There are times when I need to fill in on the floor and not having worked the floor in 15 yrs., there are a lot of new drugs...and we MUST know what we're giving. :P Through the years, I've found this is the best drug book available. I've been using it since 1977.

Didn't find it useful. Thought it was very busy and chaotic. There are better books available.

It was okay until I searched for zopiclone and nicotine patch. There were none of those in this drug handbook. Those two drugs are widely used, how come they're not on here? I'm disappointed because I liked Lippincott's drug handbook since I started nursing school 7 years back.

As always a very clear and dependable handbook
