Cover Your Gray Fill In Powder - Dark Brown

I was skeptical about this product (and similar products), but thought I would give it a whirl. All I can say is "WOW! It REALLY works!" I always had thick, lush hair, but due to a severe car accident, I'm required to take a number of medications that have the unfortunate side effect of causing significant hair thinning. I use a great Biotin supplement that has been extremely helpful, but I have baby fine hair and still have issues with my scalp showing through at the temples, if I pull my hair into a ponytail, there areas on the sides that look like "bald" streaks". If my hair is down (I have a medium length bob), there is an area just behind the center part at the crown of my head that also looks "bald", although it's really just fine hair without the necessary "weight" to fill in those areas. With this Fill in Powder, the areas of concern virtually disappeared before my eyes, I couldn't believe my eyes! The application process was simple and fast, and the results look completely natural! Another plus is the far that once applied, the product doesn't budge. No creeping, fading or undesirable rubbing off onto other areas of skin or clothing. I even used it in a pinch in place of my eyebrow powder (simply applied with my eyebrow brush). It worked beautifully and looked great! I'll still use my eyebrow powder on a regular basis, but it's good to know I have a backup if needed. Fantastic product, so much better than I expected. I wish I had discovered it sooner!

Gets the job done = HAPPY!! 1st dab powder 4-5 times on top of head where hair roots are growing out. 2nd GENTLY press powder down. 3rd LIGHTLY stroke powder onto hair (as if painting a detail with a paint brush). Add a couple of light strokes of product between the temples/ears where roots tend to show first. -Purchased dark brown (as suggested); my hair color is currently copper red tint (now sun faded) on top of my natural medium brown hair and had—NO issues with brush, because of using a VERY light touch (as suggested). [FYI a smaller blush brush or an eyebrow brush can be used.] Unless the people you meet are specifically looking and investogating for roots growing out in your hair, it is surprisingly not that noticeable even though the color is not an exact match! If your COLORED hair color is DARKER than your natural hair (that is growing out either salt&pepper or grey or silver or white) then this is a great option! This can work for sure for hair that has not been colored for 4-6 weeks (depending on frequency of your hair coloring cycle) - and POSSIBLY stretch all the way up until the time where there will be one inch of roots showing. (this is on the optimistic side with as much as 1 inch!) Depending on the speed of your hair growth(?) you MAY be able to use this product UP TO 3 weeks past the ”time of expiration” of when you normally color your hair. If you color your hair as often as every 4 weeks you may have a total of “up to” a 7 week “grace period” with this product. If you color your hair less frequently like every 6 weeks you may be able to use this powder successfully until it’s been 8 weeks. since you last colored it. Peace of mind: This powder can assist you in putting your hair coloring cycle further out by about 2-3 weeks. These are all general guesses and hopefully a useful review.

A very convenient and fast way to cover your gray, excellent..

This is a good product, at less than 1/3 the price of the one I had been using. I'm curious whether those who reported that it didn't work ordered it too light for their hair. I needed two shades darker than my hair. I had been using Joan Rivers "Great Hair Day" to fill in a thinning spot. It is an excellent product but costs a King's Ransom. The Irene Gari Fill In Powder is a good product, but not as good as Joan Rivers' which lasts longer, stays put better, and has a better brush. Irene Gari does not last quite as long, and requires tiny touch-ups between shampoos. I found it a little quicker and easier to apply, because the powder is softer. It also "migrates" meaning that the color moves around on my head, even when I apply hairspray (a must). I found it bled down and colored my forehead by the end of the day. Could be embarrassing. (My thin spot is near the front of my head.) It is affordable, just in case you are not made of money. I have light brown hair. The Joan Rivers in blond is quite dark, and matches my hair perfectly. The Irene Gari in dark brown was about the same as Joan Rivers' blond, and matched my hair perfectly. If you buy the Irene Gari, get a darker shade than your hair (I chose two shades darker.) Some reviewers said the dark brown color had shades of red or purple in it. That's what I thought at first, but when I ran the brush over it, I saw that the reddish color was due to slight oxidation on the surface only, and it did not add any red or purple to my hair. Many said their Irene Gari product arrived broken. I found mine extremely well-packaged and it arrived in perfect condition. Overall, I am happy with this product as an affordable alternative. Apply sparingly to avoid having the product spread to areas you don't want it. 4 stars.

does as advertised to blend areas of thinning hair areas

As a woman with thinning hair at a young age, I have always struggled with finding a hair style where the thin spots wouldn't show through. There are options for people with extremely bald heads - from hair replacement to hair pieces or wigs. However, for those of us with thin hair but no bald spots, there aren't lot of options. So I saw this product and decided to give it a try. I know it's supposed to be for gray coverage, to apply to root regrowth in between colors. However, I found that if I apply this to my scalp where my hair is thinner, it covers the glaring "pink" that so painfully shines through my hair and makes my problem so apparent. Now, I can look like I have a well stocked scalp with just the touch of a brush that is as easy to use as any face powder. And yes, it does attach nicely to hair roots to cover gray as well. :) It may not be a permanent solution, but it's a nice and easy daily routine that I will happily make a part of my morning!

The name is misleading as is part of the description. The name states "cover your gray" It absolutely does NOT cover gray hair. It will NOT adhere to the hair shaft at all so if this is what you need this will NOT work for you. I bought this to cover the few gray hairs I have around my front hairline, there are not many yet..maybe 10 and I don't want to color all of my hair for just a few hairs in the front and thought this would be perfect but unfortunately it does not work for this. The powder has an oily feel to it on my fingers and does "dry" and doesn't seem to smear after set. If you just have thinning hair, this is excellent at coloring the scalp and filling in bare spots and does make thinning hair appear thicker. The applicator brush is garbage and sheds badly. Really badly. This brush sheds worse than the cheap dollar store brushes I have. Many have received damaged and busted powder, but mine was in perfect condition with no broken powder at all but it is packaged in soft plastic in a thin box and was shipped in a small envelope so I can see how it could easily get damaged in shipping. Overall I am disappointed because it did not work for my needs but if you just need to camouflage thinning hair this is excellent, just buy a better brush. I will keep it and try to use it as an eyebrow powder.

Oh my, some bristles fell out of the brush. It didn't color the hair..it didn't color the scalp, yada yada yada....I've tried them all to cover grays (my hair is dark brown so it HAS to cover that white growing out for me to be happy). Sure some bristles fell out...big deal when the product works, right? The mascara style is sloppy, the crayon style works good if you wet the crayon first and that can be sloppy, the spray isn't easy to apply and can get on clothes. This powder will darken your gray roots and also if you want will fill in some thinning areas. No Rogaine or medicated treatments daily (which by the way is pricey and when you stop it falls back out). This is a powder with a brush. Easy to apply. Can't use too much it will just go into surrounding hair. Stays in until you wash it out. No mess and easy to use and small enough to carry in a small purse. So if your grays show in week 2 like mine, you will want to cover them. This makes easy work of it AND covers the grays.

I bought this months ago to touch up the grey hairs on my crown between colouring. It works fine for that, but what I really love it for is my eyebrows! I use a small angled brush, and gently run it along my brows to deepen the colour, and hide the occasional grey stray that appears. Unfortunately, (and I say that tongue in cheek) is that my eyebrows over the past few months have become thicker! I guess the propecil is doing that! My eyebrows are naturally thicker now (40+) then they ever were when I was in my teens! Awesome product with surprising benefits!

I've reviewed this before, the last time I bought it but I feel compelled to review again! I will never be without this stuff ever! It's saved me a FORTUNE on hair appointments as it allows me to extend the time between visits (I have dark hair with lots of grey/white coming through on top). It stays on until I wash my hair and doesn't come off on pillows (unless you really rub your head on them!)
