Steinberg Cubase Pro 10 Competitive Crossgrade

The download procedure for this software is totally unacceptable. I was a user of Cubase back in the early 90’s when it was only available on the Atari . I had the Cubase Audio version and it was amazing back in its day. I went over to using different software when PC’s became more popular but thought I would give Cubase a try again when I noticed that I could purchase it at a great price if I already use a competitors software . Well my first impressions aren’t good . The box arrived with a piece of paper , which has the activation key code on it ,and also a small USB key . You have to download the software from the Steinberg website , which is when all the problems begin. You have to download the main software after first downloading and installing Steinberg Download Assistant . Surely the purpose of assistant is to help you ? Otherwise , what’s the point ? The assistant is very slow to start and then takes ages to load .. and I mean ages . Eventually , if you are lucky for it to load , it then searches for products to download .. yet another long wait . It then comes up with an error message saying unable to find server ( or something similar ) . I’ve tried reinstalling the assistant but still no good . I’ve updated Windows but still no good . I clicked on the support button, which led to an empty page . Seriously peed off ! I’ve checked forums and can see I’m not the only one that has experienced this . I’ve seen the videos on YouTube and the software itself looks awesome . It’s just a pity I can’t use it . If Steinberg are looking to entice people away from other competitors , then they’ve failed miserably . I own several other DAWs and I’ve never had this experience .
