Great for trail riding
These clippers are amazing. I wasn’t sure about the ratcheting feature at first but now I wouldn’t have any other kind. Another feature is the open hole in the handle to hook onto a coiled lanyard for trail riding. I attach these to my saddle and trim and cut back overgrown trails. Great tool. Won’t ride without it.

Using this Pruning Shears has me amazed how it does the job.
I bought this same pruning shear years ago and never used it. I poo poo it because it seemed cheezie and rattled. I used it recently because I ran out of the HD pruner's. This thing is like a Timex, it keep on ticking. I like the ratchet mechanism, the feel of the hand grip and the sharpness of the blade. I'm doing a serious cutting on my Ligustrum Bushes. In 2 days I have filled 20x33 gallon bags with this cutter. It's good for most of the branches up to 3/4 inches in diameter, on occasion using a second hand to finish. When the rachet drops to next the next level the cutter gets harder to finish with one hand. I made a lot of cuts with pruner. The blade seems hard enough to take the punishment. So, here I am back again, hoping to find it again and there it was in Amazons purchase history of 2 or 3 years ago. So, now I have a spare. Oh, use GLOVES, because the bar between the index finger and the next will get irritated by the heavy cuts. Grip everything you hold to cut with all your fingers. A dangling pinky is vulnerable. Hold items back away from cutter area.

Almost Great
These little shears work quite well at what they're supposed to do. The blade is very sharp and it has a nice size jaw for cutting thicker branches. The ratcheting mechanism performs as advertised. Here's my problem with these shears... I have small hands and therefore have a horrible time handling them. As you can see in the photos they're OK when they are closed or slightly open but if I want them open more than 1/2 inch I have to let go of one side of the shears so they will open wide enough to fit the branch in its jaw. Then I have to use two hands to close it like you would large pruning shears. Other shears I have owned in the past the handle curved inward more so I could open it and still have my fingers on both sides. I bought two pair of these. I returned one pair but no longer have the package for the second pair or I would have returned those as well. EDIT: after using this numerous times out in the yard and garden, they are now my favorite shears. I'm sorry others have had such a hard time with them, but so far they've been working great for me. In fact, I am ordering two more pair today because I cannot find the pair I had. I guess that doesn't mean I won't have problems with them in the future but for now they are the best ratcheting shears I have found, in spite of the size problem I have.

Works fantastically
I love it. Very sharp and cuts through almost anything and staying sharp so far. Even used it to cut open some cardboard boxes. Love the safety lock. I will cherish and take care of this one.

Works great, then it doesn't
I have ordered three of these mostly because the ratcheting aspect of the pruners works easily (my wife loves them). They are easier to use than any other pruner and I have used many different brands. Why have I ordered three ? They don't last long before something will go wrong with them making them inoperable. Mostly the spring snaps in two or the pin holding the ratchet will fall out in can't be found. Even if you find the pin you have to go to the hardware store and try to find the tiny compression nut that holds it all together. I am giving up the battle as I have found a less effective but more durable brand of pruners.

Really happy I bought this . . . once I figured out how to use it
I am a woman in my late 50s with tendinitis in both of my wrists from years of typing. I bought these ratchet pruners knowing that other reviewers had said they would not consistently open or close cuz the locking mechanism was too stiff. At first that was true for me also – could not get the darn things to open a time or two and then regularly could not get them to close. However, I did two things: First I wrapped a little piece of Velcro strap around the handle, so that if it wouldn’t close while I was out in the garden, I could always just strap it shut for safety. Second, I figured out that if I squeezed the handles together slightly, to relieve pressure on the locking mechanism, I could open and close them pretty consistently. Just *every* once in a while the lock still kind of hangs up, and I think that happens especially after a lot of ratcheting, and that is when I use the Velcro strap. This was my first time buying ratchet pruners and I did not know how to use them, and there are no instructions basically. So at first I had no idea what I was doing and I found them very frustrating. For me the trick is to gently “pump” them – you squeeze until you feel some resistance from the branch or stem, you let go slightly and then squeeze again and you will probably hear the ratchet click, and then you can do that one more time. Once I started gently “pumping” them, they’ve worked great, and I am very happy to have them.

Great snips
Love these snips! The ratcheting makes it so easy to cut things. This is the 2nd time I've ordered these. And have bought to give as gifts to friends. Great price. Well worth the money.. highly recommend
