Handmade Paints - Professional Oil Pigment Stick, Painters Dozen, Set of 12 Colors

Very hard to say everything that must be said about them in a short review, but bottom line is I cannot recommend them highly enough. May be wise to start with a trial set if you're not sure because they are so expensive. But I loved them and so I now have about 30 colors. They are just so nice and so fun to use. You do need more colors of these than you do with tube paints. This set of 10 in particular does not come with a white or black, and you should definitely order those. I would also recommend a gray, a brown, a purple, and an orange. They work perfectly in conjunction with tube paints, and the same solvents and oil media you would use with tube paints. I've done whole paintings with just drawing with these directly on the canvas and then a little brushing to finish and blend parts; I've also done a whole painting with these by mixing chunks of them on a palette with oil to make liquid paint; and everything in between. Bottom line is these are a top of the line, super-premium product, crammed with extreme concentration of the best pigments, easily more than capable of being used for professional work, and very much worth their high price.

R&F pigment sticks are great!I bought some several years ago and decided to purchase the Painters Dozen . A great deal! Rich colors, easy to work with. I love them. They arrived when expected too.

i am CRAZY about these pigment sticks. the colors are fabulous--so bright, so lovely.....and i love the buttery texture--SMOOTH as can be, blends so nicely. you can get a clear stick for blending and i suggest getting a few big white sticks for blending. i like to have the light yellow stick for blending too. =) expensive but worth every cent. goes a long way.

A totally new medium for me to us. Love it!

I am new to this media and initially found it difficult to work with. After attempting a third art work on smaller panel I started to get the hang of it and can see some advantages and benefits of using oil sticks however I still prefer using my tube paints and brushes

Beautiful medium to work with. If you like working in oil pastels this is the next step. A bit messier but you can cover far more ground!

I purchased the R& F dozen pigment sticks just a week ago and I am really sold on the product. For example, I have attached a collage of my new series called "Cave Art" which I painted today. In order to speed up drying time, I just dip the end of a paint stick in some Winsor Newton "Liquin Impasto" before I scratch it on my canvas. I actually start all my paintings now with my eyes closed so that I can really create an original design. Then, I study my design to figure out where to go next. I let the design lead me.

I was super hesitant to buy these as I feel they're kind of expensive, but the color pay off, the ease of use, and how fun they are make they so worth while. I like them so much I hope to add additional colors to my set.
