I am unable to get most of the bits out of their slots. Any suggestions?

Put a little WD40 on the shaft before you put it back in the slot. Vaseline works also.

What kind of wood can be milled with these bits?

I don’t know. Whatever wood I have that needs milling. I use a lot of exotics, Cocobolo, desert ironwood, zebra wood, marble wood, figured walnut etc. Obviously, they are not commercial grade so won’t do for high volume over a long period of time.

Will these fit in a makita router?

This will fit any 1/4 inch collet router
