Outstanding
Both the xbox and the kinect get my highest rating. I have an original first gen Xbox 360 I got when they first came out, that's still kicking. That was in my bedroom to extend my media center PC there. I had a newer Elite hooked up with my PS3, wii, and mac mini that runs windows 7 media center, all going to my TV in the great room. So this new slim Xbox replaced that bulkier Elite, that Elite went to my bedroom, and my 7 year old is thrilled since now I'm buying a TV for his room to hook up the old first gen white one. So the Xbox - love the redesign, but the packaging really ticked me off. rather than just some static cling type protective film over the disc tray, they used something with annoying tacky junk on it. And of course it did NOT come off nice. So I spent about 30 minutes getting it all off without messing up the finish. Usually you can use some part of that protective cover that still has some tackiness to it to "blot up" what remained behind, but this stuff was just a nightmare to remove. Also can't believe in the era of HD TV's they still give the lowest possible version of the cable to hook up to a TV. I mean come ON, how many people are still using nothing more than one video cable and a L/R sound input on an old non HDTV? I get that they want to make money, but after ponying up $400, at LEAST give a usable cable... Fortunately for me I was replacing an existing one so just used the HDMI cable already in place. But this leaves me with nothing to use for my son's room when I get his new TV, so another cable purchase needed. Sound - this new slim xbox is dead silent. No more turbofan engine sounds when you fire it up. I'm about 18 or 20 feet away from where my TV and all these other boxes sit and I can't hear it when it's running. It's just as silent as the PS3 if not more. Great job after the years of jet wash sounds the previous versions created. Brick *is* smaller but hardly by much... Uses the same plug to the AC source, but it's a different plug coming into the unit now. So you can swap the brick but don't have to swap the AC cable coming to it if you're replacing an existing one like I did. I had no problem using one of the several hard drive transfer cables I have laying around the house from the days when they used to ship them free to people on request. Transfer went fine, didn't even need to use the CD, was built into the xbox OS evidently now to recognize the cable and just do the transfer. Everything went except the actual files of the games I installed from the discs to help speed up load times. Then I hit the [...] site to move licenses to the new box, and all is working nice and easy. Pretty AND quiet, could not ask for more. Then there's the Kinect unit. One USB plug on the built-in cable, and you're off. I was amazed at how well it worked, I had lower expectations for a first gen piece of equipment like this. But it DOES work, and surprisingly well. It's fun to use, and me and my 7 year old enjoyed playing with the bundled game. Slight delay between your actions and it's representation on the screen, but it IS just slight, much less than I had expected. I wish selecting things was a "hold your hand so you're 'covering' the button, then PUSH towards the TV to push the button" but it's a 'hold your hand so you cover the button then hold the hand still for 3 or 4 seconds to select it" type of action. I also wish I could skip the intro to the kinect game that always warns you to move furniture out of the way and such. That gets old after a while. Video chat and ESPN requires a gold xbox live membership though. I had let mine expire after 6 or 7 years since I hadn't done anything online with anyone for the last three or so, but looks like I'll have to get that gold account again to try out the video chatting. All in all, a great purchase and a wonderful value. Xbox is same price I initially paid for my Elite when it came out, and has larger drive, more USB ports (even though I don't use them for anything other than the Kinect now), and built in 802.11n wireless (my add-on wireless for the Elite only did 802.11g so was useless here after I upgraded my wireless network). Too bad they didn't offer this unit when I was looking last year and got my Elite...

Absolutely Fantastic!
I only found out about Kinect a couple of weeks ago. After reading some of the preliminary reviews, I was intrigued enough that I pre-ordered it almost immediately. Being a gadget nerd, I ordered this bundle despite already having an Xbox360, because I wanted the larger hard drive, the quietness of the new console (whisper quiet!!!!!), and the built-in wireless. The new design is pretty sweet too. Overall a fantastic console. I'd recommend upgrading. Kinect? ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!! I have read countless reviews on Kinect. And the more I read the more leery I was getting about my pre-order. Most of the reviews complained about lag, or the space requirement, or that the games were nothing more than regurgitated Wii games, and how every game title ever developed wasn't re-developed for Kinect on launch day. WTF? Unplugged the old Xbox360, plugged in the power supply to the new 360, plugged in the HDMI cable (no more adapter required), plugged in the digital audio cable, set the Kinect under my tv, plugged it into the Xbox, turned it on and it's go time. A few minutes of setup was all it took, setting up the wireless connection, entering your Xbox Live info, and a few update downloads. Very painless process. We moved the coffee table out of the way and moved the couch back a couple of feet. Sorry, if you're living in a $2,000 a month, 400 sq. ft. NY studio, this isn't the game for you. But fortunately for Microsoft, most people think having to use your kitchen sink as your nightstand isn't acceptable living conditions, so I completely dismiss the space requirement "problem". The front of the couch is normally right at 8 feet from the TV, but because two of us were going to be playing, we moved it back a couple of more feet so that we would be standing at the 8 foot mark. It worked perfectly, and actually for some of the games we played we moved as close as maybe 3-4 feet from the TV. So I think you could easily cut the 8 feet down to 6. 6-8 feet is recommended in the documentation. We played Kinect Adventures first, the game that comes in the box. Wii-like? Yes. Fun? Soooooo much more fun than any Wii game I've played. That Kinect can track your every move -- your hands, head, arms, feet, hips, EVERYTHING -- is just amazing. No controller can detect whether you're moving side-to-side, or backwards and forwards, or squatting or jumping while at the same time moving your arms. It's just brilliant how well Kinect works. One game in particular really shows the potential of this thing. You're in an underwater tank and crazy fish keep poking holes in the glass. You have to plug these holes to keep the water from coming in. In some cases I had to use both hands, both feet, and my head to plug all of the holes...yes, all at the same time. The girlfriend and I had a blast with it. The other games were just as fun. I think Your Shape best highlighted what Kinect is capable of. You are an infrared replication of yourself on the screen. The shape of my body was precise (unfortunately) and it even picked up the logo on the t-shirt I was wearing. There are numerous exercises you can do and you follow along with an instructor. You have to stay in sync with the intructor to earn points and advance to higher levels and the Kinect does an amazing job of following your every movement and comparing it to the instructor. Not spreading your feet far enough apart? It'll tell you. Not keeping the right rhythm? It'll tell you. It is so much more immersive than anything I've played on the Wii and I can now actually see myself doing Your Shape instead of going to the gym. It's really fantastic. A lot of the reviews complained about lag, meaning it takes a bit for the Kinect to detect your movements and get them on the screen. Is there lag? Yes, as measured in fractions of a second. Is it noticeable? Only if you're specifically focusing on it. But it's not noticeable during actual game play because you're focusing on the game. And just like with the Wii, you quickly learn to compensate for that fraction of a second difference. It's an absolute non-issue!!!!! All-in-all, having played three titles (Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports, and Your Shape) over a span of a couple of hours, the girlfriend and I were exhausted, exhillarated, and amazed at the experience. My girlfriend, being a typical girl, whose life isn't defined by gadgets, even posted on FB that the Kinect really is AMAZING! It more than exceeded our expectations and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. And I am absolutely ecstatic about what Kinect means for the future of gaming. Fully immersive Call of Duty? Yeah, it's coming!

Kinect - The next generation in Gaming, Kids give it 6 starts
This is the first time I have written a review, but feel that this device deserves the effort. To put it simply this device deserves 6 stars. We are a Wii owner and have had it since it first came out. We have about 8 games on the Wii and had used it regularly. I liked it because it actually involved my kids moving and I felt they got some exercies. All of my 4 kids 13-6 and half boys/girls are very active and very athletic, so video games are not something they spend a ton of time doing. This device might change this. I always wondered why Microsoft did not release a motion controller for the xbox, it seamed like such a simple thing to do. Sony just did this and it is an incremental improvement over the Wii. When I first heard about the kinect I was somewhat skeptical. Now I know why Microsoft did not release a me to product, the Kinect is at least a generation ahead of the Wii and Sony and will give them dominance in this market for several years to come. I have seen this type of technology approach before, and it was very tempermental and normally did not work. I am a technical person and have researched the technology behind this and it is simply mind boggling. There are 2 cameras, 1 IR emmitter, 4 microphones and a motor, not to mention the software that is behind this. The fact they are able to bundle all of this technology into a $149, $100 when bundled, priced device is amazing. I was somewhat worried that it would be hard to set up, nothing could be further from the truth. I basically plugged it in and then it downloaded several updates and I was good to go. The games provide brief instructions on how to interact, but basically you just do what would come natually. It is trully amazing technology and the usability is impressive. The physical exercise that you get is significant compared to the othe devices out there. You do not have to hold anything and the kicking and jumping that you do really involves you legs. The other devices simply cannot use the legs effectively. The kids have to stop periodically to rest, so you do not have the long periods of them just staring at the TV and pushing buttons. A couple of suggestions. If you have a hard floor, make sure to wear tennis shoes or something to lessen the impact when jumping. It is kind of like trying to play tennis barefoot, you need something to cushion the impact. We have a room fully of windows and it has been working fine, although it does mention you should try to limit the light in the room. I think this is due to the IR emmitter getting confused with the IR that is natual in sunlight. We are doing it in a smaller room right now, but will probably move it up to our game room, since some of the games allow 4 people and we simply do not have enough room in the room for four people to interact at the same time. This is a great device and I strongly believe that Microsoft has a hit here. I feel sorry for Sony and Nitendo, since this will become the game of choice. I just hope that they begin to embed this technology into their computers, so we can get more interaction during our work week...

Major Disappointment
The kinect games are different than Wii and full body play is good, but the motion detection is frustratingly sluggish. Voice command is also sluggish and not always effective. Setup was very frustrating as it would not accept my aol email address and ended up having to use a work email address until I can get another setup and change it. Security questions also ridiculous as they require six word answers and many of my answers to these questions were only four letters. Plus the menus have to many layers and are difficult to navigate. I already had Netflix through the Wii and had to cancel due to them jumping the price so high so that feature is void on the Xbox. The biggest disappointment is the ESPN3 service. The Live Gold cards show the ESPN3 logo and I suppose some people can actually get it. However, apparently not all broadband services support this option and mine happens to be one that doesn't. After having setup problems, I found this stated in the fine print. I called the 888 service for help and held for 20 minutes and never could speak to anyone about it. I am not impressed with this system and have wasted my money buying it. Major Dissapointment. Major Mistake.

Next Era of Gaming is Here
Once upon a time, I was a hardcore gamer. Every now and then I like to relive those days, but the older I get, the bigger my responsibilities have grown, and with that comes less time for me to dedicate to my video games. That being said, I know a good game when I see one. I'm fluent gamer that enjoys losing myself in a virtual world. I was a bit skeptical when Kinect was announced, thinking it was nothing more than a Wii improvement. But because I'm also a tech freak, and I'm always looking for a sneaky way to incorporate an acceptable method of gaming into a life I share with a woman... I figured I'd give Kinect a try. In one word, Kinect is amazing. It's revolutionary. It's fun. To the point where my neighbor had to call me and gently request that we tone down the jumping, stating that he could hear us laughing and knew we were having fun... but he'd really appreciate us being a bit more quiet. What a party pooper. Maybe I should invite him up to try this out :) My girlfriend who has pretty much never played a video game in her life was having a blast, talking trash, and rolling turkey's in bowling. She aced me in ping pong. She kicked my butt in Volleyball. She's an athletic type that questioned my decision in buying a game that would potentially keep me indoors saying, "why not just go outside to jump around?". Hours later, she was begging me for one last match and one last bowling when me, the hardcore gamer, was requesting that we escape to the bedroom. Needless to say, this technology is new. It's not perfect, and there are some latency issues that I'm sure will one day be ironed out once developers become more comfortable with the system. The set up is a bit of an annoyance as I live in a New York apartment that is more of a box than a habitat, but we managed to get it to work after shuffling around our furniture. I think we decided we are leaving our living room in this new set up so we can get Kinect started up on the fly and dance, bowl, and jump the night away. As for an actual product review - the camera is a bit larger than expected, but sits comfortably on my entertainment/television stand. I have a 32' LCD that displays it perfectly, but now we're already discussing the budget for a new television to satisfy our growing thirst for having a larger screen for dancing. I purchased two additional games at lunch - Dance Central and Kinect Sports, and while I won't go into a review for either of those products and focus primarily on a review of the overall experience, I'd say if you like to dance, pick up dance central no questions asked. If you like additional mini games that everyone can get involved in, pick up Kinect sports. I like to do both, so it was an easy decision to pick both games up. Overall, it's a wonderful experience. It's fun, it's engaging, and it really changes your perspectives on gaming. Once a hardcore gamer, my leisure time is now going to be spent doing a few rounds of bowling and ping pong. This product is highly recommended, and I've already posted videos to my Facebook account encouraging friends to buy it. And if I am encouraging friends to buy it, than I encourage you - a stranger Amazon user to buy this. It's fun for everyone.

"Bang for the Bucks"-Xbox 360 250GB Console with Kinect
If you are looking for Family fun or individual fun you can have it with this new Xbox 360 250GB Console with Kinect. The sleek glossy black finish is very nice and the sides have a wider base to help protect the Xbox from being easily knocked over. The system takes up less space and has a built in Wireless card. The Xbox Kinect Port is also a power supply so you don't have to worry about using multiple plugs for the power and UBS with the Kinect. The system has better heat ventilation and a safeguard shutdown mechanism to prevent overheating. It has a build in 250 GB hard drive that allows you to storage massive games, videos, and photos. The system will also allow you to utilize a smaller and less bulky devices a like USB drive for extra storage space. The power button and the eject buttons have nice sensors that allow you to swipe your finger in front of the sensor to open the CD tray or turn on/off the power. The fan and the CD drive are very quiet. The system comes with the option of using the HDMI cable (sold separately) or the audio/video component ports. However the audio/video port connection does not have the switch option that allow you to switch from HDTV to Standard TV. The Kinect device is very impressive piece of technology that works better than advertised. It is off the meter when it comes to tracking your body movement. It serve as a multipurpose device that allow you to play really fun games while getting some exercise all at the same time. The device has a built in camera with sensor that tracks what you are doing. At the same time it displays your image on your TV in real time action. It is too cool. Some games we have fun with using the Kinect are Dance Central, Kinectimals, and Kinect Sports. The bottom line is Xbox with Kinect is wonderful for family or individual entertainment. It is more than what I expected and it gave us our "bang for the bucks". Xbox 360 250GB Console with Kinect

Great Exercise & really cool technology
We got the X Box 360 250GB with Kinect and included Adventures Game and then also separately got Dance Central and Your Shape Fitness Evolved. I'm certainly not a techie, but set up was simple for me. The Kinect sensor sits on top of our Dish Network DVR and it actually recognizes you when you stand in front of it and I am really enjoying not having to hold something in my hand to play. Now to be fair, I had only played wii at a friend's house 3 times, but being the controller is super cool. On the x-box console, it can sit on its side or lay flat, your choice. Kinect REALLY sees you and if you're not moving a part of your body the right way, the game sensor knows it and says so. I did order the Create game just now because it will let you actually sit down and use the controller for when I want to be lazy and relax. There's no playing Kinect unless you're up, active and moving. If you get too close to the camera it will tell you to back up or if you get too far away to get back into the right area. Really funny when the dogs walk into view, it sees them too and I have to keep them out of the room when we're playing. On the Your Shape Fitness Evolved exercise game, it tells you to lunge lower or step further apart if you're not mimicking the instructor closely enough. And I like it that it is encouraging when you don't do so great. Kinect is NOT for couch potatoes, and that is why I got it. I am very easily drawn to just sitting and watching tv sometimes. This forces you ( if you want to play it) to get up and jump and move around. The game that came with mine, "Adventures" has anything from white water rafting (lots of jumping and leaning to steer the raft), a sort of Greek Dodgeball game (sounds just like a real ball and fun to hit it back and forth) and a game where you're plugging leaks like the little Dutch Boy except you're in an underwater elevator thingie ( lots of arm and hands in this one). Amazing to see how it reacts to your movements and tells you tips to improve. We were all a bit sore on day two, especially after doing so many dance offs. Couple of good-to-know tidbits: make sure you have lots of room to play, we have hit the ceiling fan numerous times & now and have one slightly sprained ankle to show for not paying enough attention to being more out of shape than previously thought.

Somethings on my mind... I got the USA version with USA plugs [This is what I wanted].
Although I get it, this is used product, the console is a bit beat up, some scratches, but overall ok quality, not sure about over 200 dollars for an ok quality old console which is no longer supported anymore, but it does work, luckily I had to go through one other order, which I'm sending back from another seller elsewhere. Was relieved that this worked, just had to setup internet, then update it, then download my profile from the cloud, and then load up games on it. I was able to copy my games from an old xbox to a 1TB samsung evo ssd, any external hdd would work though. You just gotta format the hdd in the xbox storage menu, or it pops up asking you to format it there somewhere, then you can transfer games or copy them, you can only copy them one at a time, which is really annoying, or transfer = move everything all in one go. This is just Microsoft limitation, some genius in development back in the day thought they were all that, when there's not even a [no to all option] when copying and it asks to overwrite, there is no [no to all ] option. This console is USA version of the Xbox360 slim, it looks exactly as the photos, except there is no official product box, there is only 2 boxes it comes in, everything is bubble wrapped for safety, this USA console is what I wanted anyways, because not 100% of games are compatible with UK xbox360 slim, so since my games are all USA anyways, may as well get a USA xbox360 slim and use a stepdown converter to plug it in the mains in UK. I just have something to say about Microsoft, shame on you for taking xbox360 market place offline, because of this, you know how hard it is to search through purchase history to re-download what you have? There is no simple way to search for your content on the xbox360, and I'm shaming Microsoft right here and right now, because they are no1 currently a 3+ trillion dollar GDP company in the whole world, and they couldn't afford peanuts for xbox360 and keep it active with their pocket change for at least the lifespan 100 years since the birth of the xbox360. The reason is mainly because these games are now lost to time forever, games were licensed and then taken down off the store, and if your dvd drive is broken, there's no other way to play these games. So yeah here's my list: Xbox360 slim -1 Xbox black classic- 2 Xbox series X- 3 Xbox one- 4 1 being best 4 being worst. Microsoft are losing to what they had back in the old days, the top 2, and what did they do? They destroyed the Xbox360 their best asset. If I was in charge of their gaming industry, I would be 100x better than, what these guys can do. I would make all my games uncensored, I wouldn't shutdown xbox360 store, I would make physical copies of all games, I would license all the games that were delisted, I would put the prices down on dlc items, less price = more purchases, I would allow all games to be uncensored as lead in charge of everything, I would make more money than any other game company with my tactics, all for one, and one for all region games, and dlc, no more taxes on DLC items, and game purchases online. [Come on Microsoft you know I'm right.] Less = more cheaper = more purchases and if you do it right, you would make 4+ trillion faster. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here's a lowdown on what you get: Xbox360 Slim used- 1x Game controller [Batteries NOT included] 1x Hdmi cable 1x Power cable + power brick. 1x Game kinect adventures- [mine was rather scratched up with some fingerprints] 1x Kinect accessory, also scratched up. 1x250gb harddrive already installed Built in 4gb memory [Whatever you do don't use this storage] I have heard that your data gets deleted randomly with that 4gb memory. Just connect an external hdd, and use internal 250gb as well, there is also free cloud storage with signed in people. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I only wish I bought an xbox360 slim years ago, had I known what Microsoft would have planned this shutdown, I would have maybe got 2 consoles as backups incase the dvd drives break or I get red ring of death. I haven't tested out the disk drive yet, but it opens up and sounds like it's working, I will do sometime soon, and I promise I'll update this review. Suffice to say, the whole console is working, and is in working condition, it may not look brand new, but the key thing is, it works, and hopefully for the next 20 years at least.
