THIS IS THE BEST PRODUCT for the DYI'er......
Whenever it comes to the Transmission I am sure, like most DYI'ers, this is the most dangerously expensive thing to mess around with.... and Without the $3000+ Transmission Diagnostic and Flush Machine... I can say this product, after tons of research, was the best option...... It is NOT posted here, but there are some KEY NOTES, when you decide to use this product, that you had to hunt through but here it is below: ACTUAL INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO APPLY Lubegard 98602 Flush and Protect: 1. Make sure the transmission is at operating temperature (drive for a 5-10 Miles to be exact). 2. DO NOT PUT CLEANER IN until AFTER you have gone for a drive. 3. Make sure CAR/TRUCK or whatever is UP and LEVEL (This means the Transmission is LEVEL). 4. Pour Cleaner in and turn on CAR and for 5 Min (yes 5 Minutes), HOLD THE BRAKE and SHIFT Through the gears in sequence from Park to Drive (and if you have a Manual Shift Option you do that after 5)..... 5. Turn off Car/Truck etc. then completely drain. (Replace Fill Drain Cap before Filling) 6. Pour In the EXACT AMOUNT of your Transmission Fluid that you took out (DO NOT MISS THIS STEP) 7. Close Transmission. 8. Drive Car for approximately 100-200 Miles.... (Or as I found Drive on ONE FULL TANK OF GAS) 9. Raise vehicle to Drain again (Steps 5,6,7) 10. While Filling New Final Transmission fluid Add the Lubegard Protect Bottle. 11. Drive for 5 miles then top off Transmission Fluid as needed (DO NOT OVER FILL - SCREWS UP PRESSURE) Enjoy... Your Transmission will come back to life like it was new...... I did this to my Cadillac SRX 6 Speed E-transmission Gearbox....... It cleared out all the SLUDGE from over 150K miles (I didn't drive) and it looked like deep maroon black oil..... After 530 miles when I did second drain and check spotted a pan sample... it was 100% Transmission Fluid as if it came out of the bottle.... So I highly recommend this if you are teetering on should you do this or not! My Car shifts and exchanges gears while driving more quiet, more power and no noise nor gear to gear jolts...... Enjoy... this combo was a great deal and eased my mind!

This product works! Our 2007 Hyundai Elantra had 210000 miles on the fluid and began hard shifting between 3rd and 4th gear at lower speeds, also when stopping at intersections it would at times hard shift down after setting still for a few seconds. I researched other reviews of this product and decided to purchase it and do the flush and total replacement of the old fluid. I also purchased a new filter and fluid at the same time. I poured the entire 2oz. of flush into the transmission after driving about 5 miles then drove another 6miles and upon return pulled the emergency brake and shifted through all the shift points for 10 minutes. I drained the fluid from the pan and then removed the pan and replaced the filter and the pan using the supplied gasket and RTV black gasket maker. The next day I removed the upper hose from the cooler which is the return line to the transmission added what amount of fluid I had drained from the pan then had my wife start the car in park while I kept adding fluid and watched the color coming out of the hose attached to the return line at the radiator. Once it changed to the red color of the new fluid I had her shut the car off. Put everything back together added the 2oz. bottle of protectant and more fluid while the car was running to bring it up to the full mark on the dipstick. Drove the car around the block and rechecked level added about another full quart which brought the total amount to the exact amount my vehicle specified it contained and what I had removed. This took away all the hard shifting and smoothed out the way the car sounded even at idle! This product works great!

Highly recommend Lubeguard
Lubeguard works very well, my transmission had a whine noise coming from it for some time before I addded lubeguard.Once I added the lubeguard Red my Honda civic started shifting A lot better I highly recommend this product!!

If any additive and/or flush works, I believe this one does, and at least it does no harm. Even Honda specs the additive part.
I don't have double blind testing to prove this product is effective. However, I do have a bit of transmission experience, and I'm currently on transmission #4 in my 2006 Chevy TBSS - a "Level V" GM4L70e built by a nationally recognized specialty shop. It felt like I was going to need yet another rebuild, as it was making a horrible noise when really warm (whack-whack-whack), the 2-3 shift only worked under light throttle (same for 4-3), otherwise it felt like the equivalent of missing a gear in a manual transmission. Other noises and motions were also present from time to time, including a lot of slippage on occasion. The fluid looked like brown water and smelled like clutch and friction lining - awful, nasty, burned smell. That brown stuff is usually the material in the clutches suspended in the fluid and acting like little bits of sand paper, clogging passages, and just generally wreaking havoc. Since I had nothing to lose (I was already shopping for the replacement transmission), I bought this Lubegard kit based on research done mostly on the bitog forums. I added the flush product and ran the truck for a while as directed. Then I cleaned the transmission cooler (a separate B&M cooler - I bypass the radiator integrated cooler/death trap) and lines with a product designed just for that. Then I pumped out the old fluid from the cooler line about 3 qts at a time, then added 3 qts of new fluid and repeated. At about 18 quarts it looked pristine. Then I dropped the pan (losing 3 quarts or so, but no point in not being thorough) and replaced the filter and gasket, cleaned the pan magnet that looked like a wire wheel brush (yikes!), and topped off the fluid again and included the additive part of this kit. The 2-3 (and 4-3) shift problem are still there, but I expected that - that is another story. But the slippage is no longer present - all gone, the horrible noises are definitely all gone, and the tranny works as well after an hour as it does when cold - before it behaved much worse the longer the trip. Sure, perhaps the additive and flush did nothing and the improvement is all because of the fluid and filter change (which was fairly nasty and plugged) and the general cleaning of the cooler and lines, etc. - but if nothing else - unlike some of the stories you might hear like "my old transmission was fine until I finally flushed the fluid after 120,000 miles - then it died 3 months later" - that is not my experience. Also, I purchased the additive part of this kit separately for my daughter's 1999 Honda Civic EX after needing a second rebuilt transmission, because the external solenoids would throw a code and the shifting and torque converter lock up were not as smooth or consistent feeling in their action as I thought they should be. Since adding it, the car still throws codes about the external shift solenoids but not as often, and the shifts and torque converter lockup are smoother and more consistent in their progression. The additive is a friction modifier, and it might not be the right one for you. But Lubegard products in general have a lot of science behind them, many transmission builders will tell you it's the only one they use, and even Honda, notorious for its transmissions acting up if anything other than Honda fluid is used and having a ridiculously high failure rate even with the correct fluid, issued a service bulletin recommending this additive should certain symptoms appear. The Lubegard folks are very easy to get in touch with, and in fact after looking at their website you might need to reach out to figure out which product is right for your particular issue. The website is chock full of info, but don't guess if you aren't sure. I'll use the additive in my next transmission, and I would use the flush again if I thought I needed it (IE observing the fluid in a horrible state).
