Colora Henna Powder, Natural

I have used henna in the past, but a different brand. I previously used Sunset Glo Hennalucent, which has been discontinued. This is an excellent replacement. The texture of the henna seems about the same as hennalucent & the results were definitely similar, if not exact. It is hard to tell, as my hair used to be "virgin" hair, and this time I was putting the henna on top of colored & highligthed hair. It is important that you know what henna is and have realistic expectations before using/reviewing this product. It is messy, smelly and kind of a pain to clean up and rinse out of your hair. However, knowing this, and having used henna MANY times before, I was prepared and found it to be quite easy. I use 2 boxes for my medium length hair. I put towels down on the floor and covering the sink while I am applying it so that I don't make a mess of my bathroom. Once it is on my hair, I wrap my entire head (obviously not my face) with saran wrap to eliminate dripping. When it comes time to rinse, I use a TON of conditioner to help get the gritty henna out of my hair. Make sure to clean/rinse your shower curtain and tub right away because the henna can stain! I don't find it to be that much more of a pain than regular hair dye, but that is just me. I'm not a fan of the smell, but it doesn't bother me either. And, the henna doesn't burn my scalp like regular chemical dyes do. Another important fact...henna is a HUGE pain to remove from your hair. I have gone back & forth from chemical dyes & henna for over 10 years, so it can be done, but it is a pain. You need to grow it out, or you can use a fruit based stripper, or a third option is to highlight the henna out of your hair. I've heard many people say that results of the fruit stripper or highlighting can vary, but with Hennalucent & Colora I've never had a problem. I have not, however, ever tried to put a straight chemical dye over the henna. And, I get TONS of compliments on my very shiny, pretty red hair now! ;)

My hair is fine and thin and as I approach 70 has lost most of its color, all of my gold is gone. I use the natural and add approx 1 tablespoon wheat gold & one buttercup. I use it 2x a month, half a package of neutral per application - fine and thin - you may need the whole package. My grey browns look like dark blonde and the white looks like blonde highlights. I have shine and body and color. My girlfriends are giving me unsolicited compliments! It’s a little messy and you leave the “mud” on for an hour, so allow the time. I love it!

Hard to work with. Felt like my head was filled with grit. Took forever to rinse and did nothing.

I had been using Hennalucent Sunset Glo on my hair for over 30 years. When it was discontinued a year ago I started searching for a substitute that would color my hair as well. The Colora Henna Red does the trick. The color came out the same. I've had it on a month now and will see if it lasts the same three months that I used yo get out of Sunset Glo. if it does, I will be stocking up on Colora Henna to have enough on hand for the next few years.

Honestly, I didn't mean to buy the clear. Duh right? I meant to buy the blonde. O well. It is still a good product just not what I meant to buy.

The turnaround time was very fast - always preferred! I would definitely order from this seller again.

I had used Hennalucent for over 20 years. When they discontinued the product I went on a search to find a replacement. Well, this is not it. This powder is gritty and hard to put on the hair. It doesn't cover very well and the color is wierd. I'll never use it again. I'll stick with the one with the fox on the cover. Rachel

I have used a few brands and this one I have kept coming back to, the key is getting the right consistency and time for the results you want. It took a few uses and I have gotten satisfactory results. I have quite a bit of gray in the bang area and you absolutely can't tell. I have gotten compliments on my color so I must be doing it right! Price is great and get a few uses out of one box. Been using it for a few years now.
