Has anyone ever had one of these fail? I. e., the threaded screw break off the circular attachment-point?

I haven't had that happen to me, but I guess it's possible. The trick is not to place the Screw Holder to tight. In any event there was 5 or 6 in my package, so if one fails there is plenty of others to use. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas.

What is the base material this is composed of? What is the weight/pressure limit for items attached to this loop?

I have attached with no problem my Nikon 70-200mm which is really pretty heavy, at least for me. As to the material Idon't remember. Hope this helps.
