Competitive "value" buy for the bigger brands to consider
I was skeptical at first that this would carry the same features / quality of the bigger brand action cameras - side by side comparisons show very few differences. I must say so far I am blown away (though still in the early testing phases). Photos are magnificent, with just a few in the "blur" category that could be quickly discarded. Video appears to be stable - I've yet to do any post editing, but looks good as is. I don't use audio internal/external (or haven't yet) but I do know in case all audio functions are off - which is not surprising but worth point out. The quality of the case and just amazing amounts of attachments right out of the box was the real surprise. I do think that's probably where smaller brands have issues competing with the big boys. I do think if you're using something every day for action footage / underwater use, and trying to post frequently to a media site you may end up with quicker wear / tear - but it does what it says for my purposes. Kept the water out / a couple of drops with no terrible scuffing and dents - and again, mount it to your bike, helmet, tripod - with multiple attachments and ways to attach for each (in / out of case; front mount helmet; top mount; bike low / bike bar). I plan to really TEST it this week - putting it through the rigors and testing battery life, but first impressions are often most important - will update with battery life and any glaring concerns. I must admit at a quarter of the cost of mid-tier (offering less specs no less) / a tenth of the cost of the pro-tier (same specs)...so far, its really incredible value! If others want to stay relevant - they might want to pick up some design / cost pointers from Akaso.

Great camera at a good price, Very poor app
I'm new to the world of action cameras, so I'm just getting my feet wet, so to speak. I tried my hand with one several years ago and I was in for a huge surprise. This camera is quite an improvement in technology. I had been looking at a couple of brands other than Akaso, and at a couple of models other than the Akaso V50 X. I'm very pleased with my choice. I should explain that my primary goal is to have videos of my grandchildren: I'm not participating in extreme sports. I also have a background in still photography. I know that there are cameras with extended feature sets or more impressive specs than the Akaso, but for the price, and for my needs, the Akaso V50x fits the bill. Here's what impressed me: Build quality for the price. Quality of the videos that it took. Great image stabilization. Excellent array of accessory items included. Spare battery included. Clearly laid out touch screen menu. Not so great: The Akaso DV app doesn't connect at all. I've used two Google Pixels (a Pixel 2 and Pixel 3XL) and Samsung S7. Also, the Akaso V50 X doesn't appear in the opening choices. Sound seems muted (I did purchase the external mic (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07XDPMD3T?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title) which improved things significantly. Support literature is vague and not well written. Note to manufacturers: if you make the best made product in the world, but your user guide doesn't explain how and why to use a function, it becomes useless. Spend some time having a native speaker review user guides and instruction. It takes far too much searching to find and install firmware versions. A suggestion: Although I probably won't use the underwater housing much, I would like a lens cap. I thought it would be good if Akaso offered a video editing app. I know there are good ones out there, but I like end-to-end solutions, and would be willing to pay for the convenience. I understand that this camera is made to hit a price point, but it could be offered as an accessory. End-to-end solutions is what makes Apple so successful. In sum, the Akaso V50X is a camera that performs well, is well made, has a number of useful accessories, and is priced well. The app needs a serious revision, and attempting a firmware upgrade is equally bad. While the negatives don't lessen the overall impression of this camera, a couple of improvements would go a long way.

4K, Accessories, and Features are plentiful for a low price!
I have a small YouTube channel that started 9 months ago with a Yi Lite action camera. From that statement you should be able to tell that I'm cheap and I shied away from spending many hundreds on a camera for a channel that may never go any where. After I lost days of audio on the Yi camera when it disabled the mic for some unknown reason, I knew I needed to change cameras. That's when I bought my first V50X. Yes, my first. I now have 2 V50X cameras and use both to capture multiple camera angles for my videos. Do that with Go Pro cameras and you'd go broke. I added the Akaso external mic and that's when my video quality improved to the point that my viewers made comments about the improved audio. That's a great feature of the V50X is its ability to use the external mic, although so far I've only been able to get the Akaso microphone to work. Still, most all other cameras at this price don't offer anything but their internal mics and that limits many recording situations as far as quality audio goes. The video quality on the V50X is outstanding and the image stabilization is top notch. I accidentally disabled the image stabilization feature recently and the video was difficult to watch with lot of movement. With stabilization turned on, videos are smooth and even walking can look great. I barely use my Gimbal anymore because of how buttery smooth the recordings are using the V50X. The accessory set that the V50X comes with is great especially the dual batteries, battery charger and the waterproof case. All in all, this camera is an excellent value for the low cost and I recommend it to other vloggers. UPDATE: It's now September of 2020 and I've been successfully using my 2 Akaso V50X cameras to film all of my Youtube videos. My channel has modestly grown and one of the reasons for its success is that my video & audio quality improved once I started using the Akaso cameras. The biggest part of that improvement was the external microphone that the V50X uses - Youtube viewers will tell you that the audio is more important than the video and I believe that! If you want to shoot 1080P at high frame rates (up to 90fps) or 4K video and you don't want to spend the high prices on GoPro cameras, the Akaso V50X is for you. After many months of use, I would recommend this camera to everyone!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Action Camera for the Price – AKASO V50X
I’ve been using the AKASO V50X action camera for a few weeks now, and I’m thoroughly impressed with its performance, especially considering its price point. Video and Photo Quality The 4K 30fps video quality is fantastic for capturing outdoor activities, and the colors are vibrant with a lot of detail. I also appreciate the 20MP photos, which come out sharp and clear. The image stabilization (EIS) works surprisingly well for the price—it smooths out most of the shake when I’m biking or running. Ease of Use The 2-inch touchscreen is super responsive and makes it easy to navigate through settings and review footage. The user interface is simple, so even if you’re new to action cameras, you’ll get the hang of it quickly. Plus, the camera comes with a lot of useful accessories, like mounts and a waterproof case. Battery Life The battery life is solid. Each of the two included batteries lasts about 90 minutes when recording in 4K, so I can get a good amount of footage before needing to swap or recharge. Waterproof Performance I’ve used this camera for snorkeling, and the waterproof case works perfectly. The video quality underwater was much better than I expected, and it handled the water pressure well. Connectivity The built-in Wi-Fi is convenient for transferring videos to my phone or controlling the camera through the AKASO app. It’s really handy for quick sharing. Overall Value If you’re looking for a budget-friendly alternative to more expensive action cameras like GoPro, the AKASO V50X is an excellent choice. It has all the features you need—4K video, image stabilization, waterproofing, and a bunch of accessories—for a fraction of the cost. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quality action camera without the high price tag!

Forget GoPro, go with the AKASO!!
The AKASO was simple as it gets to set up. You can use the documentation that comes with it, or just play with it, as it is quite intuitive for use. I set it up for motovlogging with both the 1080p @ 90 fps and then at 2k @30fps. The video quality is amazing! The stabilization is better than the GoPro6 black. The external microphone picks up voice very clear even when riding at 80+mph. Very little wind noise is picked up in my helmet. Everything about this action camera was better or easier to use than my 2 GoPro cameras. I am still playing with this and figuring out which configurations I like, but the quality cannot be beat, especially at the price point. You are getting FAR MORE than what you pay for with this! The manufacturer even provided an extended year of warranty for free on this camera. After the first ride with the camera, I didn't like the way it was mounted and flipped the camera upside down. It automatically flipped the view screen and recorded right-side up. I love this camera! As far as the battery...I recorded for 2hrs and 15 minutes before I received a low battery warning. So, if I get that from both batteries I cannot complain about recording for 4.5 hrs. I drilled holes in the waterproof case to run the external mic and to run constant power to the camera (kind of a battery bypass). Not waterproof any more but I don't do underwater and won't be recording in the rain. The camera came with a basic assortment of GoPro style mounting accessories and arms. I read some complaints on many features for this camera, including the external mic but I have to say that everything is absolutely perfect with this action camera! Perhaps all the bugs have been worked out. You are wasting money if you spend 4 to 5x more for a GoPro. Buy the AKASO V50X and be thrilled!

Much better than the old but room to grow for this GoPro alternative
This is our second Akaso action camera. We also own the V50 we bought a couple of years ago. The older model was great, when I felt like investing the energy and fuss to have work properly. We bought both cameras/video recorders because we were looking for a cost effective way to capture family outings, mostly skiing. Occasionally, I also do some back country skiing with friends and want video. I don't really care about uploading or major editing. I just want some moments captured that I can share simply with family and friends. I will not have the chance to ski with it until the winter so the jury is still out but there are already some notable advantages. The price remains right, the model seems simpler, the touch screen is very nice, the app that goes with it (Road Cam) is much better, and the remote is also much better. That said, read on for more details on why my overall rating is 3 stars. The phone app (I have a iPhone) to accompany the first model was a nightmare: slow, shutdown, failed to transfer video and pictures often, and overall poorly designed. The Road Cam app is MUCH better so far, although it does close for no reason from time to time. I don't see a way to download multiple videos or pictures at once. If there is a way, it is not straight forward. One of main reasons we bought these cameras, other than price, is that the remote. When skiing I love being able to capture video without touching the camera to turn it on and off. That said, the new model has a major SETBACK from the first. On the older model, a family member can see that it is recording from the front from a blinking light. This time the light is on the back and smaller. So, once you press the record button, if you happen to be able to hear the beep you are likely all set, if not, you will need someone to check for you. This rather annoying and my family members get sick of me asking if the light is blinking when we tested this out. There needs to be an indicator on the remote that shows it is recording. A BIG improvement though is that you do not need to turn on the remote, like in the last model. That makes it simpler. Lastly, I also really wish there was a way to turn on the camera from the remote because again, someone needs to check for you when it is mounted to your ski helmet, a real pain when I ski by myself. The camera is ok. In low light conditions and broken light, my iPhone is much better. I also believe the older model had larger megapixels? The camera arrived with a slight flaw. the touch screen has a bubble on the edge. We removed the protective film and it is as if there is another on it creating the bubble. I have to see about a return and replace. So, all in all if you are not after the top line overpriced GoPro and want a solution that is functional for basics, this is the right camera.

Great value
I have been wanting an action camera for a while but could not justify the cost of a GoPro or similar. I really wanted one for an upcoming backpacking trip and saw this camera was on sale, so I decided to take a risk. So far I have been happy with the purchase. The quality of the camera, images, video have been better than I would expect at this price point. The number and quality of the included accessories are also very good. I have used it to take some underwater images/video of my koi pond and they turned out great. I took it on my backpacking trip where I took some images and a LOT of video. I like that it came with two batteries and while I was initially concerned about the battery life it actually worked well for my 4 day trip (used both batteries and recharged one battery once during the trip). The image stabilization is not prefect but is more than good enough for my needs. I wish the camera would not record the sound of pressing the buttons and/or the beeps it makes, but that is a minor thing that I can edit out later and maybe I should be using the remote more. The operation took a little bit to get used to, but once I did, it quickly became intuitive. I had some trouble with getting audio along with the video but this looks to be an issue with Windows and not the device (works fine with non-Microsoft video players and editors).

Great camera
Amazing video quality. Sound is okay but a mic should sort that out. Really easy to use and great value for money
