Star Wars Folded Flyers Book Kit Review: Great fun! - We bought this for our resident 8-year old Star Wars fan, and I will not gloss over the fact that making these flyers, at least for him, requires the active "assistance" of an older person. In reality, that means that I am the actual one making the flyer and that my son is the assistant (he's in charge of cutting and the dispensing of tape, as needed). So, you ask, Why should I get this for my kid? Simply put, it's a great way to spend some one-on-one time with your kid, that doesn't actually involve staring at a TV screen or playing video games. Sure, at first, I inwardly grumbled to myself about having yet another thing to do, in addition to my normal parent/family job. However, once we got going on the first flyer (X-wing), we became really absorbed in it through making sure the folds were just right, the cuts were just so, and that the tape went on the right spot, all the while with each flyer my son is learning to hold back and wait for his job, and for some of the easier folds, he actually gets to do those, too. He looks to me with a degree of admiration, not that I was seeking that, for having helped him make these really cool flyers to aid in the creation of his own Star Wars battles, and the beauty of it is that we have another tool to bond closer together. The Basics: Star Wars Folded Flyers is not origami, although, as the name indicates, folding is involved, as well as cutting and taping. The instructions and graphics are quite clear, and do require close scrutinization for accuracy, otherwise, the planes won't fly very well. Some of the folding, even with the aid of a recommended ruler, requires some hard pressing when folding multiple layers of paper. Accurate cutting skills is also required. There are pages at the back of the book that tear-out, and are imprinted in such a way that they come to look like the ultimate finished ship, and a bonus is that there are more than one of the flyers to make, so that more can be enjoyed as they get bashed flying around, or in case you mess-up on the construction. The end results are some pretty cool paper airplanes to fly around the house. Review: MUST HAVE for a Star Wars Kiddo! - The instructions and color coding on how to fold the ships is so awesome and easy to understand! They did a superb job creating this book. Love that there is multiple of the same ships to make for any jealous siblings or ship casualties. Also two thumbs way up for the “if your ship isn’t flying right adjust this” troubleshooting. This is a MUST have for a Star Wars Kiddo. And the ships fly well too! My son is 8 and could do them himself, but prefers to have my help so it’s more precise.

Fun vehicles to create but might need help
Our 7 year old needed supervision & help for these. Taping is involved. He loves these vehicles but unable to complete by himself unlike the airplane books you fold.

These were super easy to make and flew amazingly well. Some made loops in the air and some flipped. This book also had instructions on how to tweak the planes in case they didn't fly as mentioned. It had cool info about the battleships that my kid absolutely adored. You just need scissors to make these, even the tape is included :) All in all, this is a must have for the young fans of Star Wars.
