Works Great - over 250 hours on 9 volt battery
Works great, easy to use. I have verified it draws less than 2ma so a 9 volt Alkaline battery will run this preamp for 250+ hours. My Application: I drive my late model Audi in Audi Club track events. They require that all windows be open for safety crew access. The late model Audi exhaust and engine noise is so low that you can't hear the engine with all the wind noise at high speeds . . so you can't use engine sound to manage your rpm and shift points on a road race course. So I have this preamp under the hood of my car with a lapel microphone picking up the turbo-charger noise and feeding the amplified signal into my vehicle's stereo system which has aux plug in the glove compartment for a phone interface. It works great. The lower power consumption is perfect for 9 volt battery operation.

Works great with 9V battery and very easy to hookup.
This pre-amp worked great for my dynamic microphone and only needs a 9V battery. The directions and wiring were very easy to follow.

The shared ground is a problem...
So, this preamp does work, but I couldn't use it because of the shared ground wire between the positive voltage and the microphone input. The output of this was supposed to be in the input to a signal processor, but, I couldn't run them both off the same power supply because the preamp was tuning in a local radio station.

Quick and economical build.
This little module does exactly what I needed. I started out to build a preamplifier to use condenser microphones with a boom box for a small area portable PA system. I did and it worked but generated too much noise. While researching the noise issue I found the Kemo modules. When it arrived I ripped the guts from my home-built amp and wired in the Kemo M040N. AMAZING! It worked and there was no detectable noise. Kemo manufactures other modules that are compatible with the M040N.

Perfect preamp
I used the module to take the unbalanced output of a wireless mic system and feed both the left and right inputs of a consumer grade amplifier. The only other component was a 9 volt "wall wart" power supply from my junk box.

awsome
I am very pleased with the perfomance of the MO40N preamp. This thing is powerfull. I have used it to boost the signal from my ipod nano to my 2 x 100watt amplifier board. I also use it for lead guitar and bass pickup boost. Be careful this unit is hot and will need a potentiometer to tame it's power. I love it and will deffanently buy more.

Really simple to wire up and amplifies very well. The instructions it comes with are clear. It is very easy to wire up and is a lot better than building one fro a kit. Volume control on a condenser(capacitor) microphone is difficult to do but it works well without one. With a dynamic mic it is a doddle to add volume control. It is well made. I used mine to boost the Volume on the mic on a telephone headset. Voltage range from 9v to 24v

I’m using this as a booster for a piezo pickup in an acoustic guitar. With a 9v battery it is extremely powerful, I’m working on the right resistors to put in circuit to bring it down a bit.
