Cafe Caribe Dark Roast Espresso Coffee, 10-Ounce Bricks (Pack of 6)

A few years ago, I was in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and found this sold in the can. I took a "flyer" on it. Loved it! I was carrying around my Moka pot and this coffee brewed up a real shot in the shorts--very bold, intense flavor. You really have to love very strong espresso--as I love when in Italy--and this does the trick. So, "strong"--what do I mean? The same measure of this coffee, compared to the same measure of the many other coffees I've bought in the USA, yields different results. This has a much bolder taste. If I weren't using this, I would be using Bustello Supremo. The price of this, however, is quite a bit more than I paid in New Mexico--a couple years ago. I've not been able to find the Café Caribe outside of New Mexico and finally just said, "Go for it." I will buy it again online, unless I should be passing through someplace, like New Mexico, and find it on shelves at a great price.

I love this dark roast coffee...

I like dark roasted coffees, but the price of most of the ones that I have ordered in the past have gone through the roof, so I decided to give Cafe Caribe a try. The first thing I learned, using a drip maker, was to back off on the amount in the brewing basket; my first cup was a little jolting. It took a little experimenting, but I have to say that I've made peace with this coffee and I will purchase it again. It's economical and I prefer the bricks to wasteful cans or plastic containers. The flavor is very close to Puerto Rican coffee I have had made by friends, and I have come to enjoy it. If you like dark coffee, I would certain recommend giving this brand a try; just be aware that you may need to adjust the amount of coffee in the basket to your taste.

I didnt find anything special about this coffee. It isnt bad. It's mediocre. I use it as backup coffee in case I run out, or the neighbor does. It's vacuum sealed, which doesnt mean it doesn't degrade, but it keeps it from tasting stale. I've used it for up to a year after purchase without much change in flavor. I wouldnt use it for regular drinking, but if you aren't really particular, it's a passable coffee at a good price.

My sister in law buys this at HEB and she brought me some. I quickly became addicted. This coffee is smooth and flavorful. Guests have asked me what coffee I use. I LOVE THIS STUFF!
