Feather to Fire (Ashes and Snow Books)

Moving and poignant pictures form the Ashes and Snow film. The sequencing of the ones with the eagle are especially good in bringing the viewer back into the experience of the film. Sensual and spiritual images that stay with me.

..very nice pictures...bought it as a gift and my biggest disapointment was How small it was .... bamboo was cracked on the cover but I needed it for a gift the next day so I rubbercemented the crack . The size was deceiving....not sure it was described to be a little bigger than a postcard. At Over 25 dollars it was a waste of my money!!

Ashes and Snow is a masterpiece in total while some works are better than others the sheer beauty of the photos can be overwhelming. There are recurrent themes of the ecstatic or reverent with a few that are deliciously humorous

The cover is the most genuine aspect of the book. Inside the pages are just common low quality printouts. I was hoping for unique paper for the pages, but the pages are common, stiff, sharply cut and not balanced . The margins at the bottom of some of the pages detracted from the images. In fact, the format of the pages varied a lot, which detracted from the flow of the book. With subject matter such as this, the flow of the pages should mirror the meditative and magical quality of the images themselves. Upon opening the book, the magic seemed lost. This book did not do justice to the magical quality of this artist's work. It has the feel as a fast money-maker for small cost of production.

Beautiful pictures and craftsmanship. I purchased one for myself and one for a gift. I thought of even framing some of these amazing pictures.

Once I received the product I was immediately shocked and disappointed with its size. It is basically a book with around 60 regular 4x6 inch pictures in it. The book feels cheap and "gimmicky" with the different types of paper and cover at this size. In my opinion definitely not worth $30

I have loved Gregory Colbert's work for quite some time. He is so talented. However, this book was a total waist of money. The concept of the book is great, the execution is not. It is small, which would have been fine if what was inside was good. There was glue coming out the from under the bamboo piece and 80% of the pictures looked they had been printed on a home printer from the 80's. I am not impressed.

Dommage car les photos de Gregory Colbert sont toujours magnifiques, mais la présentation ici sur un papier mat ne les met pas en valeur, de plus le format du recueil est...minuscule, bien que la présentation avec sa couverture soit originale j'ai été déçue! Pour son prix j'hésiterai maintenant à le recommander.

I have two of these myself (diferent titles). I purchased this for a photographer friend as a gift. We are both huge fans of Gregory Colbert's work. A MUST have for anyone who appreciates stunning photography. This is a beautifully crafted small book filled with awe inspiring images. Highly recommended!
