Update: if I could give 10 stars I would. Only had this 2 weeks and used it to grab and dispatch a copperhead that was engaging with my dogs. It’s very sturdy, easier to use and love the feature to lock the jaw once snake is caught. ******This grabber is a little pricier than others but it arrives ready to use and perfectly functional. I also bought a cheap version so I could have these at different locations on my farm. The cheap one required assembly and cable adjustment so I'll be returning it and ordering a 2nd one of these. In a moment of snake (copperhead) wrangling I want a tool that works with no adjustment required!

Sturdy, grabs very well, the lock is a bit difficult to on/off but does stay in place. #1 this is a long stick, and the longer the stick is the more difficult it is to maneuver and control. This one is ideal for situations like mine where I have to reach under cars or up into cabinets to pull snakes for the neighbors. #2 add a small wrap of grip tape to the handle and a couple inches down the shaft. This helps a lot with control and keeps it from sliding around, and add a small stripe of bright paint, like nail polish, to make it easy to see the grabber claws in low light.

I bought this item in 2023 after a disturbing incident where I found a live snake crawling on the floor in my home. There was pure panic and desperate methods used at the time of throwing a carpet on it and trying to kill it because I was unprepared with how to remove a snake. Afterwards, I thought a snake grabber would be good to have on hand but I prayed that I would never need it. Well fast forward.....3 years later I was just shocked to see a snake in the house again. I quickly got this snake grabber out and immediately was able to grab this snake and remove it and put it outside. If I could give a 10 star rating I would. Am beyond grateful for this product. It quickly solved a very scary predicament. And once again, I am hoping I never need it again. The snake probably would give it a good rating as well since it it alive and free and back outside where it belongs!

How do you misplace a 60 inch long item? Had to order a new one only to find the old one later . By the way they work really well.NOW I HAVE ONE FOR EACH HAND!

Snakes don't bother me. Poison ivy does. Especially when it grows up into my siding and windows. Worse yet is I couldn't get a ladder up to the house to get hold of the vines. I hit the noxious ivy with Round Up and waited for a few days. When it was all brown and crispy, I used these sturdy and strong grippers to yank it all off the house. The jaws even maneuvered in on a windows frame for the largest, thickest vine. I had to really pull, but the jaws held tight and the vine came down. These are awesome! Probably good for snakes too. But I am psyched about the ivy. Came fully assembled. Great value for the money. Would definitely recommend.
