Q: Is it sturdy for multiple heavy winter jackets?

I use it for shirts and pants but I think it should be okay for jackets as long as they are on both sides of rack. It doesn't take up a lot of space so that's nice.

Q: Can the top racks handle a heavy Carhartt coat?

I have a pretty heavy universal trend coat and it holds fine without leaning or tipping over. . The rack is pretty solid.

Q: Does the upper part of this coat rack spin or is it fixed?

Top is fixed. Easy to put together, lots of places to hang things. I love it!!
