Can this be hooked up to a car stereo in place of regular speakers?

Yes you have to have an aux out and can use it. but it has built in am/fm receiver and bluetooth so you dont need one unless you want to play cassette tapes, or cd's.

Where do you buy the antenna and which one for this unit?

Any antenna from an auto parts store works. Mine mounts flat against the roof.
