Detailed explanations of concepts and useful worked examples. Includes tensor notation and Differential Equations explanations and examples. An excellent practice tool for Modern Physics concepts. Review: A GREAT BOOK! - This book is a great book for anyone wanting to review basic topics in Modern Physics. Its 14 Chapters consist of the topics of Special Relativity (Basic concepts of Time Dilation/Length Contraction, Lorentz Transformation, Relative Velocities, and Relativistic Momentum and Energy), Blackbody Radiation, The Photoelectric Effect, The Compton Effect, Bohr's Model of the Atom, The deBroglie Relation describing particle wavelengths, Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, along with a chapter on some important Differential Equations used in Quantum Physics, Schrodinger's Equation, and a final chapter on Probability Calculations and Expectation Values for locating objects, determining their position, momentum, energy, and the quantum uncertainties in each. The author does an awesome job presenting key concepts clearly along with the most important equations used in analyzing each. One thing that stood out was how meticulous and detailed the author was in solving the equations needed in analyzing these topics. Example problems come with complete detailed solutions. Problems are given for the reader to solve. (Also with complete solutions shown in the back of the book- an essential feature for someone doing a Self-Study.) Dr. McMullen is a great teacher! A great book! I highly recommend it!

Mostly the Same High Quality Book as Previous Books
The part about tensor notation is confusing, and every now and then there is something confusing after that, and in the later chapters in particular, but on the whole, the rest of the book is helpful like what you have become accustomed to in the other physics books by the author.

Very Nice Workbook that I am Going to Use In My Class
I read through this book and its perfect for a group work session in a physics class. I have used this author's books before and you just have all the students buy the book and bring it to class. I am going to do this in my fall class... I think the students will love it.

Awesome Book!!!
Thank you Chris McMullen! :)

Not Bad
It is all right the book cites trig calculus and differential equations as required to be successful. As well as using a graphing calculator knowing vectors and tensors. And basic laws of motion, light, sound etc. I would say the explanations are not simple enough for a true beginner.
