PPI Engineering Unit Conversions, 4th Edition – A Comprehensive Guide to Understanding Conversions and PE Metrics

This is the best book I have found on converting from one unit to another as an engineer.

Sure you can look up any unit conversion on the internet. But you can't do that for the PE Exam. This book is great. Unfortunately I didn't have it for the test (that I passed in April 2012) as I thought I could do well with my own unit pamphlet I made myself. But I did see where this book could easily help you solve at least 5 problems on the exam easier and quicker and more accurately. For an exam that is pass or fail, and considered one of the hardest tests anyone can take in the world, and many people are near that minimum passing score mark, this is a huge must. The book is small but it does include every single conversion you could possibly want to know (or at least I would want to know) and it makes doing exam problems a lot quicker.As for life after the PE exam, this is great to use for general engineering problems. It isn't that expensive like the other PE textbooks. Maybe you are out in the field and you don't have your computer with you and want to know the conversion of something, this is great.

This book is a must have if you are preparing to take the PE Exam. I used it frequently during my preparation and the test to perform quick unit conversions. The books gives you a base unit and then a multiplier to obtain a different unit. It saves me tons of time, and time is of the essence on this test so every second you can spare is well worth it. I even use it in my day job and is especially useful when making jumps between SI and US units like going from HP to KW-Hr. This should be a part of any engineers reference library.

Took the PE Control Systems Exam Oct 2018 and passed. While this book does have a ton of conversions and related useful information, it is just not useful for the PE Control Systems exam. I never needed it during studying. I referred to it only once during the exam, and that conversion was also available to me in another book that I brought. I could have totally left this one home. If I had to do it again, I would not buy this book.

A must have for the PE exam, you're brain will be working hard enough, no point in taking the risk of messing up a simple unit conversion. This will have it (except for the crazy unit question on the Lindburgh practice exam, thats only in a footnote in the MERM) and is much more thorough than the appendix of the MERM or the Machine Design Handbook. I missed the unit conversion question on the NEECs practice exam so I bought this. If I'd had it then I would have gotten it right in about 30 seconds.
