Before you buy this tool, it's good to know what "Black Oxide" coatings are like. They are a very tough black coating, but they come looking sort of "pre-worn" just by the nature of the finish. Don't expect this tool to look perfectly pitch black. It comes out of the box looking like it's been riding in your pocket for years already. I love the look. If you like a rugged multi-tool, you will too. The tool set here is fantastic. Good, strong pliers, a straight and serrated blade, a saw, a file, can/bottle opener, reamer with sewing eye, phillips, 2 flat heads, and wire cutters that are replaceable if damaged. The only missing tool is a pair of scissors, but to be honest I've never been a fan of Leatherman scissors and tend to reach for the Victorinox scissors on my keychain tool instead. They just plain cut better. Always recommend a SAK on the keys, but that's another topic entirely. This tool is lighter that it appears! It carries easily. I actually carry mine in my small 5th jean pocket with no issues. This is also a very nice tool to look at. It's got a classic Leatherman style that brings me back to the old PST but with hardened features and modern touches like locking tools. This thing is also rock solid feeling and backed by Leatherman's 25 year warranty. If you want a tough as nails multi-tool in a compact package, this is the one to choose. To give an idea of how this compares to other tools: It is not as refined as the Charge series. If you're used to the Charge, this may feel rough around the edges. But keep in mind this tool is a user with tough features at a good price point. It is not meant to compete with the higher end tools in the Leatherman line. It is also not as beefy as tools like the Supertool, which it is really a compact version of, or the new OHT. It weighs in a bit more than 3 ounces lighter than an OHT, so if you're looking at the newer tools wondering which one will ride in the pocket better this is the way to go. If you want a tough tool that you can use with one hand, go with the OHT. As I said in the title, this is my current favorite Leatherman. I love the capabilities packed by it, I love the weight, I love the "pre-worn" look of the Black Oxide finish, it's just a fantastic tool.

My granddaughter was thrilled! She’s in college and needed it for classes. It was heavy duty and very well made.

Had one for 10 years used and abused it plenty sturdy good cutting edge and one of the plier prongs broke off it just ordered my second one recommended to anyone

The color matches your tool—if you purchase the Black/Tan version, it includes a tan MOLLE sheath, and the black version comes with a black nylon sheath. Customers mention the sheath is well-made and heavy-duty, though a few note it's sized generously for the compact tool. Would like my sheath.

This Leatherman Rebar feels incredibly sturdy and well-made right out of the box. Every tool locks securely and feels dependable, not flimsy or loose. The replaceable wire cutters are a great feature and add to the sense that this tool is built for long-term use. It’s compact enough to carry easily but still includes everything you’d realistically need. Whether for everyday tasks or more demanding situations, it feels like a multitool you can truly rely on.

The Rebar is a really solid, sturdy, full-size tool with everything you could want from a Leatherman. It has a high-quality awl, file, sawblade, and a built-in 3D Philip's head - all essentials for a larger multitool imo. It trades one-handed operability for budget and a smooth, sturdy outside with no hotspots to blister your hands. It comes very stiff—even more so than other Leatherman tools—but breaks in pretty well after a couple days of working the tools with oil. For these reasons I would easily give it 5 stars. It competes with the other full-size tools for half the price in some cases. HOWEVER, I must encourage anyone reading this review to buy this tool from other sources. As has been the case for me with other Amazon tools, my Rebar came in a scuffed-up box that had obviously been opened previously. There was also grime and lint on the outside and in the plier hinges that required a thorough soap-and-water rinse to remove. Not a great customer experience. I suspect that Amazon is often the destination for returned or defective products, even with legitimate brands like Leatherman and Victorinox. I'd recommend BladeHQ, the Leatherman website, or your local knife shop instead for a more reliable product.

Functions great , not heavy

Ce Leatherman est un remplacement de un que j'ai depuis plusieurs années. Un cadeaux de mon anciens patron passé a trébas ! Le personal survival tool est beaucoup moins bien équipé que LE REBAR. Un peu plus pesant évidament ! Mais avec beaucoup plus de fonction séciritaires..Les outils se barrent ..Le fini est beaucoup soignée un bonne évolution du produit. La seul b-mole est que la garantie se limite a 25 ans et non plus a vie..

Meine Motivation das Rebar zu kaufen war primär die Gewichtsersparnis - es ist leichter als das Wave und ebenso leichter als das Charge. Auf längeren Outdoor-Touren ist man einfach froh hier und da ein paar 100g einsparen zu können - das Rebar machts möglich. Wenn es einem darum geht eine klappbare Zange mit ein paar netten Zusatzfunktionen zu haben liegt man mit dem Rebar nicht verkehrt. Soweit war alles entgratet und die oftmals beschriebenen "Macken", dass es zu stramm verschaubt ist und andere Werkzeuge mit raus kommen, wenn man z.B. den Schraubendreher zieht, konnte ich mit Einsatz von Plastilube verbessern. Nach dieser Behandlung lässt es sich auch etwas leichter öffnen. Im Laufe der Jahre wird jedes Leatherman etwas klappriger, aber nichts hält für die Ewigkeit.
