Eight months pregnant, Madeline Matheson deflects her demanding mother-in-law's insistent pressure for standard hospital treatment, instead opting for the peaceful companionship of a trusted midwife. But, oof.... it was dark. Review: SAVING GRACE - I originally saw this film at the San Francisco Film Festival and was knocked out by how elegant, intelligent, satirically funny and naturalistic it was. I laughed through the whole film even though many would think it only a scary film, I saw the dark humor and satire in it. I reccommend everyone see it. It is made more spooky by its natural, underplayed style. Its not the typical trashy, overdone, special-effect laden horror film. It is a film about obsessive "Mother love" on many levels. The acting was suberb also, the direction skilled and the editing was masterful. It was funded as a straight-to-DVD horror film but ended up winning awards and great reviews at film festivals and so had a limited theater release. Its on DVD now and it is a must-have for any film buff's collection. I won't tell you more about the plot cause it would spoil the suspense...just try it...you will thank me!

A disturbing mother-child cult horror indie classic !!!
**NO SPOILERS** A profoundly disturbing movie. This one is often cited by horror magazines and websites as one of the scariest horror films you've never seen. In fact, there is a horror doco "The 50 Best Horror Movies You've Never Seen" (that doco is a hidden-gem goldmine, by the way) and, if memory serves, this one is in the top 10 or 15. This film's creepy-factor arises directly from the vulnerablity of the mother-newborn dynamic (as the DVD artwork alludes to). That said this isn't your usual "bad seed" flick. Instead, it comes off as a fairly original horror indie horror film, and I can understand, having viewed it several times, why this one is quickly becoming a cult horror classic.

Movie Was Odd
This is an odd movie, it really is. I could not figure out what was truly happening in this film. I would have felt a bit better about it had they taken a bit of time to explain why the baby was the way she was. That was never explained in the film. If you're a fan of campy horror films though like I am,this is a must-see.

Short story taken too far ...
Grace was an interesting concept. It's never quite clear what happens to the baby, but a series of tragic events produces a monster. The acting is fair for the lead characters, with an exceptionaaly good performance by the wicked mother-in-law obsessed with having the baby for herself. In the end, the whole story sees to be a fluffed-out version of a good short story .. which feels bloated in the end. It was fun watching once, but it has very little repeat viewing potential. I'd rate this a good rental movie, but not likely to get watched over-and-over.

Erie,Disturbing, Different and a splash of camp.
This is for sure an under the radar gem here. Eerie, disturbing and different. The movie has no real villain yet it’s a scary movie. Has a bonus pointless camp ending that just makes the movie that much cooler.

Don't Believe the Hype or Waste Your Time
Pure, unadulterated garbage. After viewing this bilge I was forced to realign my thoughts about women to reality. This film forces one to recommit to a reality that simply is not evident in any of my relationships with any woman I've ever known.... well, all but one. I didn't hate women before viewing this film, in point of fact, I've always cherished the time I get to spend with women in general, but all the women paraded through out this film are miserable & despicable, selfish & narcissistic, ugly & off-putting. Displaying no good qualities but demanding to be idolized just for being female. Maybe it reflects the director's view of, and/or history with women, if so, to him I offer my sincerest condolences.

Gruesome visual imagery will stick with you a while.
Wow! Creepy and unsettling. Probably the best horror movie I've watched on Amazon. The demon spawn genre is pretty formulaic but this movie is full of surprises.
