I have had (intermittent) back problems resulting in severe nerve discomfort for over 3 decades. I have used both types of 'classic" back support -- simple inflatable (easiest for travel) and solid foam half cylinders and full cylinders (work best in cars). This product is a truly UNIQUE combination -- it is filled with small fragments of foam that absorbs air and it can be further inflated and sealed if needed. After it is fully broken in as detailed by the manufacturer, I found that just opening the valve and letting the foam pull in all the air that it wanted gave the best result. It has a belt that helps hold it in position while sitting and allows you to get up and walk around with it -- eliminating the risk of walking off without it. To transport the support you just take it off, lay it on a firm surface, squeeze out the air while rolling it up and then close the valve. It is then is a cylinder 11" length, 4" max diameter, tapered at both ends, and fits easily in a backpack, suitcase, or large coat pocket. Yes -- it is a little more expensive. And worth absolutely every penny. P.S. I have NO connection with the manufacturer.

I bought this for a long flight to Europe and it worked out perfectly for my back and neck providing just the right amount of support I wanted for each area. First follow the directions on inflation. I did this two days before my scheduled trip. It takes firm pressure to get the air out so it fits back into the mesh case but the elastic band provided to keep it rolled up helps to keep the deflated pillow in shape to fit into the mesh bag. Be sure to close the valave which is so easy you might think it will not work but it absolutely does. When it’s time to use it just unroll open the valave and I blow in just a little air . Close the Val e and see how it feels on the intended area. If it feels too firm or full just untwist the valve and squeeze out a little air. Keep repeating until you get the desired fullness. If you change area from back to neck just use the same process to fill or let out air . I loved that I could get exactly the right amount of fullness that I wanted so I could move the pillow from one location to another. It was so easy to use. Definitely worth the price for the flexibility you get along with ease of transporting in a carry on tote. I also plan to use this on car trips or for sunbathing if I need a little pillow. Cudos on technology that works !

After experiencing an eight hour airport layover, this pillow had good support on my lower back and you can control how much air goes into this back support with a twist control valve. There are many lumbar supports out there but what makes this product unique is that it can be decompressed and rolled into a smaller size for easy carrying onto airplane flights. I recommend this product but I wish that the casing to storage bag was more durable and compact and that the twist valve was made of a durable plastic for longevity.

Nice and company shape that inflated to a nice air pillow for lumbar support. It makes sitting for long flights, drives and sitting at a work chair much more bearable. Easy inflation and deflation with the twist valve. Carrying mesh bag makes transport easy. Easily fits into your carry on bag.

This lumbar pillow saved my back on my recent 4 hour plane ride. The ability to inflate/deflate it to the perfect support is invaluable. One size pillow does not fit all! I also appreciate the adjustable belt so it doesn't slip during travel. I even wore it under my outfit when changing planes, easier than taking it off and on. Would highly recommend purchasing this pillow.

I have both C-curve lumbar scoliosis, as well as bulging discs and foraminal stenosis at L4-L5 and L5-S1. When I was preparing to fly for the first time through Spirit, AND only bring the one free personal item bag, I knew I’d have to figure out an alternative to my usual lumbar cushion for the flight. I spent a while searching for an inflatable lumbar support that could also be worn so that I could wear it hidden under my hoodie, and this was the one with the fastest shipping since I ended up not having the money tordier until right before my trip. I’m 5’ 7” and 220 pounds with a belly left over from my five kids, but I was able to wear this around my waist under my hoodie on my return flight since my personal bag was overstuffed. It was a wee bit snug, clearly only meant to fit around the seat not the person, but it was nice that it was always in exactly the right spot on my back! It actually ended up being more comfortable than regular lumbar cushion, but cost a little over half of what that regular cushion did! It’s super compact, roughly 2.5 inches around and about 4 inches long, so it’s super portable compared to a traditional lumbar cushion, my bag was just so small that my snacks purchased before the airport took up too much space! It’s not cute like my Scooby Doo lumbar cushion, but to have designs would negate its compact size which is so clearly important for this. For a “gotta take what I can delivered in time” buy, it ended up being a really good choice and definitely deserves its quick delivery options!

I am ordering another one because it seems it’s the best option available as far as size and easy of inflating and deflating quickly and easily. It lasted long enough I guess for the price and amount I used it. But this was my original review: I fly a lot and did use this a lot over the last year and a half but on my last two flights it just went flat. Won’t hold air. The nozzle is fine, the leak is somewhere inside the pillow but I couldn’t find it. I’m going to shop for a better quality one that will hopefully last more than a year and a half.

Love how small it is when you store it. It's pretty comfortable and helps with low back pain when sitting in a crappy office chair.

Ideal for travelling on aircraft and tour-bus. Also useful in hotel or at home to support lumbar region. Turn knob to self-expand then tighten knob (so support stays firm when under pressure). Reverse process to compress again for storage. I was recently diagnosed with a Right Lumbar 3/4 protrusion that impinged my right sciatic nerve-root. This is an extremely painful and debilitating condition. The lumbar support is helping my recovery, aided by prescribed exercise programs, plus anti-inflammatory and analgesic medication.

Product is very good for back support in travel but becomes defective after 2 flights , now air always leaks out

I just got this a couple of days ago for some recent lower back pain and so far, I find it worth every penny! I’ve been experimenting with the right inflation level and it’s been great using it on the lowest part of my back. I love the high quality foam packed inside and haven’t used the strap yet. A big test will be when I go away; I’m flying out of town and will definitely be using it a lot. I find that it’s better for me than f I use it with a lower inflation level. It seems to be the right size and shape and inflation and deflation are very easy.

Very small when rolled up and then it is completely adjustable when expanded. This is such a great product because it is inflatable and then makes it infinitely adjustable. I use it when I travel and in the car when driving. I wish I would have bought it a long time ago.
