Can it be used for resin

It kind of works. It gives wavelenghts of 395 nm, where resin requires 350 – 380 nm. It works very slowly (like 15-20 minutes instead of 4), and still leaves the resin tacky.

Anyone know what the plastic tube that came with the flashlight is for?

It takes up space in the flashlight tube if you want to use an 18650 LiION battery. You put the 18650 inside the tube and then put that in the flashlight. It keeps the battery from slipping around because the 18650 is a little smaller in diameter than the I.D. of the flashlight tube.

Can I change the lighting mode so that it always defaults to UV first?

No you have to click the flashlight button about 3 clicks to get to the black light

Can you use this for ac leak, to see the dye?

Yes. I used mine to find an oil leak. The dye was visible with the uv.
