Kaytee 5" Clear Run-About Exercise Ball for Hamster & Gerbil Pets

It's very big and perfect for our little rats.

My daughters gerbils love these and they can run all over the house, near the dog and be safe and secure while getting exercise

I love these! It's like having a puppy! They roll around and bump into your ankles! It's so cute! Pros: -adorable! I got one for each of my mice and they get to explore places they couldn't before -the ball is big enough that they can't get lost under kitchen counter or my couch, but they're small enough that the mice are strong enough to push them and can fit in places to explore -they're small so they're easy to store -they're perfect to keep my mice distracted while I clean their habitat, much better than putting them in their puny cleaning crate that came with their habitat. -for the price, TOTALLY worth it. Cons: -they need to be cleaned after every use since the mice potty in then, and the hole is a bit small to fit my hand/sponge in and the edges where the lid latches are a little sharp and scratched me. I think I'm gonna get one of those sponges on a stick from the dollar store, which should work perfectly. -the lid pops off sometimes if the mice bump into things too hard. But as long as I'm keeping an eye on them, it's really not that bad. It only happened once and after about 15 minutes of play. -the lid is really flimsy, it feels like if I forced it too hard it would crack, but for $2, that's a minor setback, still worth it in my opinion. I'll update if anything changes :) (See photo for size reference, they're the PERFECT size for my fancy mice, but would probably be too small for a fat hamster and definitely too small for a rat.)

We've had this exercise ball for a year now. I've read plenty of negative reviews that state that these are scary and not safe for rats but my rats love this thing. They literally jump into it when we bring it over to their cage. We have 6 girls and when we hold the ball to their open cage door they all try climbing in the ball together (we don't let them, of course). They love the freedom of roaming outside the cage. One of my girls would walk in the ball over to our screen door and just sit there and sniff the fresh air. Some of the other girls love to run and zip all over our house. You do have to keep an eye on them while they are in the ball though. The plastic on ours cracked after about 6 months of use so I'm not sure its the greatest quality but they seem to really enjoy it anyways. We don't leave them in the ball for very long either. 15-20 minutes is more than enough time. I like that this one is clear. It just seems like clear would be easier to see through than a colored one. Who knows though. Overall I would recommend using this for pet rats. If your rat doesn't like it, then don't use it but some seem to really enjoy it and it's good exercise. I try to make my reviews engaging and useful. So we totally love this ball. It's amazing for our hedgehog. When our hedgehog is in a playful mood, she will literally run in this ball for hours in the house. It does pick up scratches very easily. For us, that's not a problem. We assume this is a toy that needs to be replaced every quarter. If you are expecting this will be great for your pet forever... You might be able depending on use, but a hedgehog a couple times a week means it gets cloudy and needs to be replaced every few months. If we had a complaint it's about the lock setup. It's easy to think the ball is locked, but not have it actually locked. Our hedgie escaped the ball twice because of this. In truth, that's our fault, the ball came unlocked because we didn't set it properly, but the fact that we didn't realize we set it properly is in a way an issue. No one will be an expert on their pet toys so the ease on this isn't quite where we'd like. When our hedgie is in a good mood, she will run in this for hours. I personally think this is a great buy. Just be sure to double check the lock to ensure your pet stays in the ball and cannot escape.

Pros: Clear is much better the see through than the color tinted Kaytee exercise balls, has one opening, easy to clean, and bought it on sale. Cons: Thin, flimsy plastic, the lid pops off, and it doesn't seem durable. In comparison to the colored Mega Run-About 13" Exercise Balls I had in the past from a pet store, these clear ones are cheap, flimsy, and definitely not worth more than $20. The colored ones I had in the past, not sure if the design is still the same, were strong these clear ones are much thinner, bendable, and I'm sure it will crack and break much faster than the colored Kaytee mega exercise balls I had for over 8+ years. One nice thing in comparison to the color ones is that this design in the past was that there were two openings for your pet, this one has only one which is better but not by much since the stupid lid still falls off just like the other ones did if they were bump into any object. The solution to this problem was always to use a little bit of duct tape or large scotch tape over the lid. However, this exercise ball is great for my young chinchilla male who is a bit on the petite side and more gentle whereas my large chinchilla girl is more rough during playtime and would probably break this easily by running into a wall or chair. This was good enough for the price I bought it for but I wouldn't consider buying another one of these in the future should the one I have break within the next year. I mainly bought this ball because I wanted my pets to have a clearer view of their surroundings but the quality seems better for the color ones.

This ball is super easy to put together and use. My only complaint is that this size 13" is heavier than most balls.. due to size. Clearly that's bc it was made for crazy chinchillas and the durability needed there. My ball python is 2'5" and still has so much room to grow which she will bc she's only 2.5 years. She escaped her own cage and has been trying to explore ever since. This 💡 came into my head and it's been genius. She gets time out of the cage. The dog gets to watch her be contained when she's out. It's going great lol. Hoping she will figure out how to really use it but for now she can only manipulate it a little at a time with her weight not offsetting the roll well enough. But the BALL itself is fantastic. Well made. Highly recommend.

tl;dr version: Lid stays on. Size (5 inch) is good for my roborovski. Will enrich your hamster's life! I suspect that people who are saying the lid falls off have actually put it on the wrong way (rotated) like I once did, resulting it in falling off. My two month old female roborovski (smallest of the dwarf hamsters) took to this ball like a fish to water. She enthusiastically explores any room I put the ball in. In doing so, she bashes into things at full speed, yet the lid has never come off. (I've used it so far for probably about dozen 5-10 minute sessions). That's really nice because it means that, even though I still keep an eye on her while she's in it, I can multi-task while doing so. Sometimes I don't even have to look; I just listen for bumps every ten seconds or so. Random, but perhaps noteworthy: I noticed that she is able to lick things through the air slots in the ball. I'm glad she can smell and even taste things in the room that she encounters, since that must enrich the experience for her a bit. I highly recommend hamster balls, in general (and this one in particular, since I have no complaints about it) because I can't even fathom how much of a difference this thing has made in my hamster's little life, which would otherwise consist of her being in her cage or being within two feet of my hands. Having seen her in it, I feel like a ball is not just a nice extra but a must-have, like a wheel and water bottle. On a final note: It's even entertaining for the owner! I love watching her problem-solve, like figuring out that she needs to pick up speed in order to successfully roll over the extension cable, or how to get herself out when she's gotten herself sort of stuck somewhere.

A bolinha é linda e do jeito que eu queria ... enorme porém pelo preço eu achei um descaso da Amazon. A bolinha é acrílica e muito delicada mas veio sem proteção nenhuma na caixa .. veio arranhada e com um rachão enorme por pancada durante o transporte!

You get what you pay for, but unfortunately, for some reason, the quality is a bit low.. the cap on one of the balls does open by itself and doesn't close properly.. would be a really nice item if quality was a bit better.
