Belkin N1 Wireless Modem Router

This modem router has solved all our connection problems. Before we had very a very patchy connection that would drop the internet every time our wireless printer was turned on - very frustrating indeed. Now we have excellent wireless coverage throughout the house, a consistently good connection to the internet and can use our wireless printer without hassle. It took very little time to get the modem router up and running. We are very pleased and would happily recommend it!

Excellent product; easy to set up. Very good connection everytime, both for Mac and PCs. Even with several computers the connection speed is good. I would highly recommend it for easy surfing. The cost is however similar to other N1 range modem routers.

I bought this product because of good reviews, excellent specification (or so I thought) and the that fact that it would look good next to my Sharp Aquos in the lounge. If you have a single dynamic IP from your ISP you'll probably be fine with this item. I have 8 static IPs from my ISP so I really needed to be able to turn off the NAT feature of this modem/router to give PCs on my home network external IP addresses. I'd read the manual online before purchasing and sure enough this device is supposed to allow you to disable the NAT. Unfortunately that NAT setting does not appear in the web-based configuration page for this modem/router. After calls to Belkin's call centre and on-line chats with Belkin technicians I still had no joy. In fact the engineers I spoke to said this item did not allow you to disable the NAT feature. Mine was the ver.3000uk model. Perhaps the Ver.1 model allowed this and they never corrected the manual? Looking at the HTML markup for the web-based configuration page, I can see the NAT setting section I want but it's commented out in the code. In any case this modem/router is useless for my needs so I had to return it to Amazon. I hope this review helps someone with a similar setup.

Product works great as a wireless router and as a wired router. After hours on the helpdesks of belkin, BT and Xbox i have never been able to get onto Xbox live. It's now gathering dust under the stairs and i've gone for a linksys. Great if you don't like Xbox.

The product set up guide was easy to use and new wireless router was up and running within minutes. Router copes well with multi-users, but range of wireless signal not as good as anticipated, signal loses strength in parts of the house.

This was ordered as a gift and transpired to be out of stock after order placed so I never actually received the item. However, my own router is this model (not bought at Amazon) which I have had for about 3 - 4 years or so. I have nothing but praise for its performance; it copes with everything so well I don't notice it is there. I have a pc wired, a Wii, two laptops by wireless (one N1 and one 802.11g) plus a Devolo dLAN home plug system with a TV and an internet streamer radio all connected and working flawlessly with the occasional visitor's laptop plugged in too. The Belkin is easy to set up and for the more technically adept there is access to 23 pages of settings in the Setup Menu to suit individual requirements. It has a built in quality firewall that ensures that the PC's are not visible to the net. The wireless range is good but not exceptional; it works well in the house with seriously thick 1920's brick walls but a few feet into the garden it disappears. A repeater would probably overcome this if outside use is required. There are icon lights on the unit which indicate different modes of operation. My only gripe is that two of mine have never worked, but this has not affected the operation of the unit in anyway. This plus apparent limited wireless range limits my star rating to 4. This unit has been on the market for 5 years or so now and has been superseded by later models, but it still cuts the mustard for performance and security in the fast moving world of IT. Well recommended for a relatively inexpensive (it was double current price when I bought mine) quality item for a new user.

I bought this as a replacement for my netgear modem router. It has a better wired and wireless connection speed than the netgear and was relatively easy to set up. It also seems to work well on a wireless connection to my Xbox 360.

Plugged it with xbox, pc and wireless laptops work straight away. easy setup, range is really good, works in very large house with not a problem in any room or the garden
